To not want 2 cleaners

Looking for a cleaner for latter half of the week. But she says on Thursdays she doubles up with someone else (and so u pay double but half the time?) . Or she has a Tuesday by herself. I'd rather have end of the week.

She has come and done one clean and I did like it, but she came with someone else and I felt like I couldn't and didn't want to tell 2 ppl what I wanted doing, I felt awkward. Plus even tho it's half the time I'm literally paying double. Is there any benefit to having 2 cleaners at once?

I know I can look around for other cleaners which i will be doing but just wondering if anyone has any experience

I've had 2 cleaners for years, I like that they are in and out quicker. I think it's probably nicer for them as well to have company while they work.

I prefer to have one person I know and trust, in the property handling my private stuff. That's why I employ her direct and don't use an agency.

I'd not welcome having a variable number of strangers loose in my property without my prior knowledge.

You're not paying double. You're paying the same. You're having the same amount of work done in half the time. It's your house, you get to dictate what you want them to do.

I'd prefer 2 for shorter time as we work from home and it easier to hide in bedroom for 1 hour than 2.

And I assume it's easier for people to keep up good effort for 1 hour than 2?

But they’re cleaning other houses and have far more travelling. Plus they don’t have long to get into a rhythm and there’s the settling and leaving time. It’s really awful for cleaners working as a duo although I suppose they’re choosing to do it! One of them generally will be working their arse off while the other takes their time.

i disagree - you get the break between cleans when travelling. mine was a husband/wife team and they generally took a main room each (one kitchen/one bathroom) and then maybe one did ALL the floors whilst other did some other task across all rooms.

not sure how much "rythem" is needed for a typical small flat (and travel time across close locations is lower)

It’s the same price, just half the time.

we used to have a team of 4 come and clean our house. It was fantastic. We just had to get out of their way and the house was spotless in just over an hour. they had a team leader so I would speak with her about any issues.

I prefer two as they’re in and out quicker and it costs the same but completely your choice

Yea sorry I have baby brain, you know what I meant! But I think cos the first clean they did they overran and I obviously paid a lot more than I expected because there was 2 of them. I know proportionally it's the same but it feels like more.

I think the main cleaner is really good, the second felt like she was in training and I think I don't trust her clean. My en-suite needed the most attention, and when the 2nd cleaner was done with it, I realised I do a much better job. And as someone else said it feels like Theyr really rushing when there's 2- hence why I felt like I couldn't tell each of them what I wanted doing. And myself and husband both work from home so would have to move rooms whilst Theyr here.

Nice to see that it is quite common, it's obviously personal preference then I suppose.

Ah yes that's not good. I expected 2 people with equal effort. Rather than a good one and a less good one. Just stick to the good one earlier in the week.

YANBU. I have a team of two, which was then increased to a team of 3. The two were ok, but the third is slow and not very effective and I feel like I'm not getting a good quality of clean any more. I've had single cleaners in the past and much prefer it.
