There is a woman who I used to be very good friends with when we were younger but we have drifted apart now and live in different countries. She goes through periods of spamming me with links to various videos and websites with no context and usually in the middle of the night. The impression I get is that she is quite mentally unwell. The last period was last week just after she shared that she is pregnant.

She has had several periods of being admitted to psychiatric hospitals - some due to psychosis and other times because suicidal thoughts. She has a diagnosis of schizophrenia. She met her partner when they were both admitted to the hospital - he was there becauseod depression I think. They separated last year because he scammed her out of her savings, took out loans in her name, and gambled it all away. They resumed the relationship a few months ago because he apologised and bought her cigarettes.

She has a teenage child who lives with her ex-husband. When he was younger she has to have supervised contact with the child but it seems to be unsupervised now. I think there were court proceedings because the child said that she hurt him but I'm not clear on the details.

She is pregnant now with the partner who stole from her. I know I'm not being unreasonable but I'm feeling really guilty about making the call to ss tomorrow with concerns about unborn baby. Please reassure me that I'm not being a total bitch.

You don’t have to explain why you want to make a referral or justify it to yourself or anyone else, so ignore those who are asking you to do so.

You are concerned about an unborn child, so the right thing to do is make a referral and let the professionals carry out an assessment. No concerns? Great, case will be closed. She is probably already known but you’re doing the right thing.

Because if she has been sectioned under the mental health act like you suggest then it will be on her medical records 🤷‍♀️

How many investigations have there been into child deaths where the agencies didn't join up & share information? Too bloody many and 'lessons' are never learned.
