Not contents insurance, just the cost of insuring your building please?
How much do you pay a year?

Mine is a Cotswold stone barn with no foundations. Its about £470 for buildings and contents but quoted up to £800. Rebuild cost also £1m (that has to include kitchens & bathrooms etc) but as others have said comes as standard on some specialist insurances.

Might look at NFU although mine seems cheaper than others!

What kind of moron doesn’t take out buildings insurance

You need to be super specific to prevent mumsnetter going on tangenti😂
So it should have been "what kind of moron, who owns a property, doesn't take out buildings insurance😂

It's obvious to most what you meant, i am assuming, but just for next time for the special posters😂

Joking, it's an apartment so it's in the ridiculous maintenance cost

Badbudgeter · 22/04/2023 11:59

Just under £500 I had an expensive contents claim a few years ago so am rebuilding my no claims. Stone building, slate roof assorted outbuildings. Rebuild cost is in excess of a million quid apparently!

Combined £345 with LV. Up from £266 last year.

The LV ads on the radio now annoy me intensely.

Oldermum84 · 22/04/2023 14:45

£78 combined contents and buildings for the year.

Depends on so so many factors including post code area. At one time an LS postcode was dearer than a London one! Do you live in a one bedroom terrace or a 4 bedroom detached! I did a quote yesterday and thought the person said their house was a semi when it was detached - put the premium up by £50!

You need contents insurance to get the liability side of things. Nowadays it tends to be cheaper to buy a combined policy than to separate them.

Tenants wouldn't have buildings insurance and flat owners would have a policy to cover the whole building; hence some people only have contents!

I've got a lot of btl properties and all have building insurance. They range from £140 to £525 per annum. Older houses, especially over 100 years old, tend to cost more. Also how close to a river, that could flood, you are affects premium.
