To ask where first time buyers tend to get their advice from? Not sure what to do?

We have had an offer accepted and mortgage approved on our first home.

Thankfully we were given details of a highly recommended mortgage broker or else I dread to think how long things might've taken etc.

But still I find it all so much to get my head around.

So I'd love some advice from anyone who is in the business of house moves or has moved from rented to buying recently.

We're thinking of giving ourselves a month's changeover period of still paying rent in our current home once we've completed on the house.

To do things like carpet/painting/big furniture in and set up etc. Would people advise that's a good idea?

What kind of things won't I have considered?

At what point should we inform the letting agent that we're moving out? (Contract is at least 30 days notice)

We have a large credit in our energy account. Should we withdraw it now or wait until we move?

Ah hi!!!

What I think I really need/want is to put together a big checklist so I don't miss anything.

How long were you house hunting for?

Hope it wasn't too stressful.

I'm annoyed at ourselves a little as offered and then got sort of panicked into offering higher by the agent and wonder if we'd have held our ground we might've got what we offered.

I think they take advantage a bit of first timers.

But in any case we have a house that's perfect for us and we're excited about.
