To wish my kid would watch TV?

Picks up the mop and starts pushing it up the wall, trying to knock the clock off. Picks up wooden toys and starts throwing them at the TV. Trying to pull books off the bookcase, climbing on the windowsill, trying to push the TV off the stand.

What have I missed in the parenting memo? As all the advice is that don’t worry if you need to have a sit down, CBeebies won’t hurt them … BUT HE WON’T!

Sounds like he's still little. Take it from me don't get him into TV. Don't do it, slippery slope. Mine are 7 and 9 and can't get them off the wretched screens if I let them

onlyabitnosy · 20/04/2023 17:07

How old is he op?

TellHimDirectlyInDetail · 20/04/2023 17:09

Have you toddler proofed your house? Maybe they aren't interested in what you have put on?

ItsCalledAConversation · 20/04/2023 17:09

How old?

Is your TV on all the time, or just switched on to watch something he will like?

Notsittingonawall · 20/04/2023 17:11

He is 2. No, not on all the time, just I could sometimes use ten minutes to get stuff done 😂

Just turned 2 or nearly 3? Big difference isn’t it.

Maybe try sitting with him on your lap and watching with him actively. Like you would with a book.

”Ooh look it’s iggle piggle, what’s he getting up to?” Etc

maybe he’ll get the messsage and after a few times doing it like that he’ll be happy to watch alone?

GaspingGekko · 20/04/2023 17:15

I had one of these. Other parents would talk about occupying their DC for a few minutes wuth TV so they could do something. Mine just couldn't care less.
Then at around 4 he started to take an interest. These days it's a struggle to rip him away from a screen.

2 and 4 months.

It might be you just haven’t found what he’ll watch!

Peppa pig is good at that age.

I can get a full hour from the Mr Tumble stage show on iplayer and the mr Tumble nursery rhymes on YouTube! (slightly younger than yours, at 22months).
