I can spend ages scrolling on here and reading the posts! I love it!!

But why??!!

The response might be ...

"You need to get a life..."

But that's just it! I have a life! A busy and fulfilling one!! So why the hell am I so interested in whether some random persons daughter should or shouldn't move out! Or whether someone else is annoyed with a neighbour or someone's grammar or a celeb or their DH, or whatever!!

The nature of SM is to be addictive.

ClareBlue · 19/04/2023 12:21

To have some escape time from day to day responsibilities with consequences.

Colourmylifewith · 19/04/2023 14:08

Same, also keep updating for updates, im not sure why tbh! 😂

TokyoSushi · 19/04/2023 14:10

I am exactly the same, largely because I'm underutilised in a WFH job!

It's just fascinating though, I've learned so much, and realised how lucky I am!

pickledandpuzzled · 19/04/2023 14:36

I'm struggling similarly. I'm not keeping up with important things, and am wasting hours scrolling mindlessly...

BananaPalm · 19/04/2023 15:30

I love scrolling on MN too but in my case it's, sadly, because I have no friends available to chat more often than once in every couple of months... 😕

Igmum · 19/04/2023 17:27

I could give it up any time I wanted...

LadyMargaretDevereux · 19/04/2023 18:10

I think it's maybe the mixture of threads from 'oh shit do people really do that?' to 'God, I know just what they mean,' and even 'I might be able to offer advice on this one.'

DelphiniumsBlueWildRose · 19/04/2023 20:41

Ooo I love a baby name thread op. No idea why. My kids are both tweens now!

Hotvimto3 · 19/04/2023 20:45

I enjoy talking to people and talking through problems more often that not someone has been thru something similar and it helps x

Lolaandbehold · 19/04/2023 21:30

I’m the same OP. I feel slightly embarrassed about it. But I only ever really spend time on AIBU. And I absolutely love a parking thread. There was (a brilliant) one a few months ago and I worked out where the OP lived despite never having been there before. A new low in my life, stalking. I think there are laws against it.

LaylaLjungberg · 19/04/2023 21:43

I’m not actually a Mum so I thought I was being really odd but I found Mumsnet randomly and I have found some threads to be really funny and have cheered me up so I’m all for a little addiction.

TeamSleep · 19/04/2023 21:49

It is so fascinating. People are so much more open and honest when on an anonymous forum and I love it. Much more interesting than the polite chit chat you get on a daily basis in real life.

PotBelliesGiveGoodLoving · 19/04/2023 22:02

It's addictive, like all the best bits of Eastenders, Corrie and WWE Wrestling all rolled into one.

I’m the same, but I find MN quite difficult at times because I will post something that seems quite innocuous to me, or make a joke, or express a view that goes against the majority and someone will take umbrage with it and before I know it I am embroiled in verbal fisticuffs. I hate that about MN because usually I hate confrontation but on here I fight back.

still addicted to it, though.

Soonenough · 31/08/2023 23:56

The variety of info , from house keeping stuff to parking, shopping , relationships keeps me coming back. I find other people's lives and backgrounds interesting. MN was also there for support when I was questioning divorcing my STBX .
