AIBU- yogurt for packed lunch?

Eldest DC has always been awkward to pack lunches for.
Have been through so many different packed lunch options over the years, and now they're not eating any of it.

Suspected slight autism (I suspect I am also and one of DCs siblings is diagnosed) so food avoidance is a thing.

They love Greek yogurt with honey and flaxseeds.

AIBU to send in a suitable container as their main meal components for their packed lunch?

If they'll eat it why not?

MissHavershamReturns · 18/04/2023 22:49

My ds (autistic) also has it

PickleOfAConundrum · 18/04/2023 22:55

My daughter has autism and I send her into school with whatever she will eat for lunch and if the school says different then that's a matter I'd bring up to the school but luckily she's in a school for additional needs so never any issues surrounding that one. Seeing her eat anything is a blessing as it's so challenging choosing foods for her.

Why would it be unreasonable?

ThinWomansBrain · 18/04/2023 22:57

is there a way of keeping it chilled when the weather gets warmer?

moonspiral · 18/04/2023 22:58

Remember to include a spoon

Yeah ice blocks

TheChosenTwo · 18/04/2023 23:01

How could this be unreasonable? Do you mean because there won’t be a sandwich? Or is there something else you’re concerned about?
sorry if I’m missing the point, I’ve had 2 beers with dh in the garden so it’s possible that im not reading properly 🙈

It's fine. I often have Greek yoghurt for lunch at work with dried fruit and nuts or strawberries, blueberries etc. Look out for a small food flask to keep it chilled as the weather warms up.

As a teacher, I’d be happier that you’ve sent in a lunch your child is happy to eat than trying to conform with the usual lunchbox foods than be trying to teach your probably unhappy and hungry child in an afternoon.

I’m with @TheChosenTwo , not really sure what you’re worried about? Why wouldn’t you? What’s “suspected slight autism” got to do with anything? Yoghurt is a perfectly normal lunchbox staple, am I missing something??

Ozgirl75 · 12/08/2023 11:46

You can freeze yogurt and then let it thaw, it’s normally pleasantly chilled by lunch. I’m in Australia and I would often freeze those yogurt pouches and they keep the whole lunch cool too.
