Really struggling and overwhelmed. Am recently bereaved and have pre existing type 1 diabetes, which is very well controlled, but just am knackered and feeling run down.

Yesterday, I developed a horribly sore lump on the inside of outer labia. It really hurt and because I am more vulnerable to infections I need to get it sorted. My mum died from gynaecological cancer and I know it is more likely to be something like a Bartholin's cyst but can't help thinking well what about vulval cancer...

I don't live in the UK so don't go through a GP, you can just go straight to a consultant, and don't want to go to my male GP with this anyway. He's nice but I'd feel too awkward and want somebody very experienced with gynae bumps. I was thinking to try to find something like a well woman clinic maybe but is that more for things like contraception and sti screening?

Or would it be better to find a gynaecologist or dermatologist be better? What should I do? Am so overwhelmed as I said, and can't think properly.

Ugh I get these all the time. Usually either ingrown hairs, or oil build up in the pores and I also have an ongoing bartholins cyst. Mine always flare up before my period when I’m feeling low physically and mentally.

I echo what everyone else has said, under no circumstances go at it squeezing deeply, as that can spread the infection underneath the skin. Just a gentle squeeze to ensure all the gunk is out but only if possible.

hot compresses, magnesium sulphate paste is magic, and hot as you can stand sitz baths.

Flowers to everyone who has experience of this, it's nasty.

Pleased to report that today the lump is totally gone and the area feels completely normal, even though nothing seemed to come out apart from that tiny bit of blood.

I'm a bit wtf how has it just disappeared as it was pretty big like a large angry pea shoved under my skin, so no idea where it's gone but hoping it doesn't return!
