Lump down there...

Hello,

sorry posting here for traffic as I would really want to find out if this is normal or not.

So I found a lump down there. It's right in the vaginal entrance, underneath the urethral opening, and basically around the pelvic bone. It's not attached to the actual bone. It doesn't hurt, the best way I could describe it feels like a swollen lymph node. It's about a grape size but more of an oval shape.

It's movable and squashable and a normal colour. It's not a Bartholin cyst, these are more to the side and this is right in the middle. I don't think it's prolapse because it feels like the lymph node. It was larger the other week so it has changed but it is still very much there.

I am not too keen to go and flash my GP if this is normal so, do you have it as well?
BU- I don't have it
NBU - I have it

I had something that sounds very similar. It was a urethral diverticulum. You need to get checked out with the GP.

If it’s rugby ball shaped and squishy it’s probably a lymph node, but you must get it checked.

No I don't have it!

And as for going to the doctor it should not feel weird, it should feel relieving as you are going to find out what's wrong, at least for me that's how I feel.

How old are you?

Just turned 40. No children delivered vaginally.

Skene’s gland cyst can happen to any female and is even something a baby can be born with. These cysts may not cause symptoms, but if they do, they can be treated. They are located near your urethral opening and can interfere with urination.
Possibly this?

Maybe! That sounds like it might be that! Thanks!

I looked at that. Did it feel like a lymph node between the fingers? I imagined diverticulum would be a different consistency but what do I know tbf.

Oh I’ve had this! Can’t remember what what it was called but I did go to the dr. He said if it’s not bothering me can just ignore it. If it because painful etc they can remove it. It’s never bothered me enough to do anything about it. It was just something I noticed. It comes and goes…

Chickensoup88 · 17/04/2023 21:34

When you go to the GP ask to book you for a mammogram too if you never had one.

Not that's related to your lump, but it's a good age to start getting it checked.

Please ignore my comment, if you are on top of this already.

Good luck!

phew! Skene gland by any chance? Someone suggested it and it does look like that might be it!

@AskingForAFriend12 I'm not sure I would know the difference to be honest? It just felt like a lump right in the centre of the opening to the vagina.

GP originally said prolapse but then I saw a specialist who diagnosed the diverticulum.

The lump is still there but the only thing that bothers me is a bit of stress incontinence and when I go for a wee I have to sit for a couple of minutes to finish the wee that's been sat behind the diverticulum if that makes sense?

Apparently, you have to be 50 to get mammogram. My mum had breast cancer at 47 though so I will ask.

Can they not fix it? Doesn't sound very nice!

@AskingForAFriend12 they could but mine is quite large 😳 there's a lot of risks associated with the op (one of which being catheterised for life) so I decided against it and just invested in shares with tena lady instead 😂

That sounds scary, I agree.
