To think dogs should not be in kids play area

This morning in my local park, I witnessed several dogs peeing all over kids play areas. The play areas are a zip line and climbing frame that are not fenced off like the toddler playground. I politely said to the owners that my kids play where their dog was peeing but they seemed shocked and said ‘we pick up our dog poo I can’t pick up their pee’! AIBU??

For those saying a bit of dog wee isn't a problem because it's outside and it will rain, I'm guessing you'd be okay with men peeing on the playground equipment then? because that's pretty much the same thing as dog wee so shouldn't be a problem right?
Anyone weeing or allowing their pet to wee in a play area is unreasonable and inconsiderate.

I just wouldn't see an arsehole of a dog owner allowing their dog to urinate and instantly think the play area was suddenly unhygienic because I'd assume that the whole play area was already fairly germ-ridden and likely to have rodent wee, foxes, children having accidents, people touching it who haven't washed their hands after going to the toilet etc.

keeping the play equipment free from dog wee is fine & I don’t let my dog wee on it but where ever you take your child there will be some sort of wee - I take my DD to the woods to climb, the field to play in, round the town centre - it’s all full of wee & not just dog wee!

There's a big difference between wild unkempt areas and a designated play area, particularly one that is fenced off where people STILL insist on taking their dogs in despite numerous signs saying no dogs allowed.

Those people are just simply arseholes because they are chosing to let their dog into a place they shouldn't be.

Name and shame them

The doggos? 🐩 🐕

Doubt they would care

Yanbu.

The fenced-off kids play area at our local park says No Dogs, but people seem to think that cockapoos and the like don’t count.

Devoutspoken · 17/04/2023 16:59

I'd just ask them to leave

Thesharkradar · 17/04/2023 17:02

dont bother talking to them they have 'dog brain' & think the animal should be permitted to do whatever children are allowed to do
film it and send the footage to whatever authorities seem relevant, upload where ever seems appropriate.
Obviously use your judgement on whether to make sure the owner knows you are filming or whether it's better to do it covertly.
I repeat....dont bother challenging these people, they are too emotionally bonded to the animal to think rationally about it.

Are they peeing on the grass in the area or on the equipment? Because that's two very different scenarios.

Boogismyname · 21/04/2023 14:08

Dog wee is different than human wee.
