44 hate mongering articles about Megan & Harry in a 24 hour period

I saw this yesterday on Twitter. Industrial scale hate filled media content about Megan & Harry in 1 newspaper alone - works out at about 16,000 articles a year.

Aibu to the media in this country is utterly utterly grim and the cause of so much societal division.

Makes me feel quite ill frankly

It’s utterly grim- we could be holding the shitty corrupt government to account with some decent journalism but instead we have 44 stories about a couple. It’s insane & there’s no wonder the country is in the state it’s in.

I agree. The monetisation of such hatred is grim indeed.

Two people who continually grab attention, stir up trouble and slag off their family. Unfortunately for them, the world doesn’t work in as “We only want people to say nice things about us”. Nature of the beast. They could STFU and pale into obscurity with their enormous wealth but they don’t.

I’ll save my sympathy for people who are actually suffering.

It's like you say - it's not out of pity for Harry and Megan that it bothers me so much, but out of wondering why they want to whip it up so much.

Like a frothing frenzy of anger.

Unfortunately like it or not they are part of the culture war now ( this thread is also an example of this exact thing) and they generate income. They clearly also stir it up themselves and live off selling themselves. I am always an optimist however and I think it will die down as everyone gets bored.
on balance a free press is better than a controlled press so I think we ( as in our society) have to suck up countless nonsense in our newspapers as the alternative is worse.

😸 OP, you’re as truthful as your idols.

The cruel fact is no one cares that much, let alone enough to have the energy to hate, and those who care do have noticed the couple aren’t doing themselves any favours.

That’s what really worries H&M - the planet’s indifference or mild distaste.

I would refer to the Daily Express as a tabloid. Only technically a newspaper, as it the One that Supported the Blackshirts.

It's the media - I don't think they're doing anything they haven't done before and won't keep doing. H and M sell papers because people -both camps for different reasons - read them.

When people from either camp stop caring, they'll stop selling. I doubt M and H want that either because popularity, both good and bad, brings the opportunity to make money. You can't have one and not the other unless you've gone to the extreme of either good or bad.
