To ask if anyone else has insane hayfever?

Honestly, never had anything like thisI heard vaguely that England was having really high pollen levels a week or so ago. From about Thursday, I have been waking up in the night sneezing like a cartoon character, my nose is runny, my eyes are runny, I look like Iike I've got a cold.

I had some fenofexawotsit for skin rashes last summer, it wasn't doing much so I tried cetrizine instead. That's better but it seems to wear off after a few hours.

Is there something else wrong or is anyone else having this? Thanks. I'm actually sleeping in the other room tonight in case I do have a cold rather than hayfever but it doesn't feel like a cold.

I have really bad hayfever that results in violent sneezes (so bad I don’t feel safe driving) and going to bed is the only thing that helps

antihistamines from shops never work (possibly because I was only taking 1 as per packet and maybe I should take 4 as some people suggest) a lot of you have mentioned tablets/brands I’ve not heard of. Are these dr prescribed or can you get them anywhere? I need to try something else as piritin, piritize, clarityn etc are doing nothing

You have listed brands while pp are listing the main ingredient. You are buying Nurofen when the rest of us are buying supermarket own brand ibuprofen.

Loratine and cetirizine hydrochloride can be bought in supermarkets and are cheap (Asda has CH at £2 for 30 tablets).

Chlorphenamine maleate are bought from behind the chemists counter. This is an older one and can make you drowsy. My DD aged 8 could take 3 a day and was fine, DH took one and slept all day 😂

Fexofenadine used to be prescription only. 240mg is still prescription only but 180mg can be bought from chemists too, brand is Allevia.

There are others. I have an older type but that helps more with a lupus rash. Sometimes one will suddenly stop working so you use another. Loratine does nothing for me now but it worked well 5 yrs ago.

@ssd piriton and piriteze aren’t the same product I dont think, you need to identify the active ingredient and quantity per tablet then check online for max doses

You're right, they're different. I remember having to know this for my poor old cat.

@Lullabies2Paralyze - that sounds miserable. As @Pixiedust1234 says there are lots of options. It might be worth trying to get an appointment with your doctor to discuss options. Although I know they can be hard to come by! Or a chat with a pharmacist should help. I find an Allevia tablet at night before I go to sleep (which is the over the counter version of fexofenadine and then a nasal spray in the morning - Beconase worked well for me plus Opticrom eye drops if my eyes get itchy really keeps mine under control.
