AIBU to believe it's entirely possible to laugh without snorting?

As in, snorting like you would if you were doing an impression of a pig.

I was having lunch out today and there was a group of people nearby who looked around 60 years old and one woman was doing long snorts every time she laughed. Which was a lot.

AIBU to think that was entirely on purpose?

I occasionally snort laugh, since I broke my nose at 12. I only sneeze about 3 times a year so no idea if I snort then.

I’d much rather hear snorting laughter (even if it is exaggerated) than the continuous whining, moaning drivel of people who feel obliged to be offended at any given action that is the antithesis of their own experience.

It’s laughter. The world sure as shit needs more of it right now.

It is possible. But hardly worth it! 😆

Some people are more prone than others and almost everybody will do it accidentally sometime.

However, I cannot see what's 'wrong' about snorting.

As for sneezes, I am one of those people who absolutely cannot stop a sneeze. Not without going deaf for several days. I always sneeze into a tissue, my elbow or jumper.

Very odd that some people can't grasp that different people have different physiologies.

Oh dear. A woman of around 60 years old? Sounds like it could have been me. 😂😂😂

ChristmasFluff · 14/04/2023 17:27

Dunno. I know which table I'd rather be on for lunch though.

I think EVERY laugh with a snort is OTT and could be curbed a bit.

I snort v occasionally - like ... i dunno, once a month ish? It's usually when i laugh suddenly and very heartily and breathe in a bit weirdly. People then laugh at my laugh. Maybe she's got a lot of attention for it in the past and does it to keep people laughing?

SerenaB12 · 14/04/2023 18:57

I really don't think it's possible.. and to add I can't laugh (properly funny stuff) without screeching.. lucky for me it's a rare occurannce 🤣 I'm going to a comedy evening next month tho.. (the thread about the woman ruining someone's day really caught my attention.. thankfully I was at home that day..)🙈

Absolutely it's possible to laugh without snorting. Until it isn't.

At my wedding, someone in their speech referenced me having snorted with laughter. Hilarity ensued when my whole family of females laughed until they snorted.

As for sneezes, I've never learned to sneeze quietly.

So I'm a snorter and a sneezer!

(I'm sorry).

My husband roars when he sneezes to the extent that I often jump and it’s entirely avoidable and very irritating. I bet he doesn’t do it at work in the office. Some people are unnecessarily dramatic. YANBU.

I have a loud sneeze, I absolutely cannot help it!? I would LOVE a quiet feminine sneeze 🤣

Hi Op
No I don't think it's deliberately,

It's just how it is
When she is out socialising

You sound like you have bit of history with this woman or you unreasonablly don't like her,

How strange if you don't know her too

Haven't got a clue who she was, never met her in my life.

I don't want to 😁😁😁
