To think people have wildly high expectations on marketplace?

I’m currently on the hunt for a cheap and cheerful double stroller to take on holiday. I’m looking for something super basic and it doesn’t need to be in great condition. I’m honestly astounded at what people think they can charge for secondhand pushchairs. £80, £100, £150 for used umbrella strollers with obvious marks, rips etc! A lot of these are brands that only cost a fraction more than this new. Surely after two or three years of use you have to expect it to have deprecated significantly in value?

I sold our old running buggy (clean, and in good working order, and with new tubes in the tyres) for £40 last year!

Am I being tight or do people massively overvalue items on marketplace?

Its strange actually because here I see the opposite. People selling their travel systems, one year old and still not selling when they're £50. We paid £700 for mine and I don't think I've seen one go for more £50-60.

I think you may have undervalued your running buggy, they tend to retain their value really well, as they don't come up often second hand.
Have you tried ebay and looked for local items.

I think this daily, but not necessarily about buggies. The amount of crap I see listed for ridiculous prices is insane. This morning I saw a guy listing just the drawers from an IKEA chest of drawers as the unit itself was broken. Drawers ‘in great condition’ he said, and wanted £50! Insane.

There was also a woman who listed a pair of Ralph Lauren flats for £30, ‘no offers as designer brand name’ but also ‘my daughter cut the name off but still visible in sole.’ Literally a pair of shoes with a chunk cut out the back of each one. I was aghast!

Pack of 5 babygros Opened and washed and realised wrong size. Selling for only 90% retail price. Pick up arse end of nowhere between 8:58 and 8:59 tomorrow. No time wasters.

On the other hand, I think even if you'd give it for free, it pays to make it a really low price, as the people value it more and you get fewer CFs. A few friends have said the same. It's less hassle to sell a COD for a fiver than give it away

I find a lot of people on marketplace 'only want what I paid for it' without seemingly any concept that items depreciate in value, esp thinking about wear and tear, lack of warranty and inconvenience.

Some people will set prices high because a lot of people will expect big discounts for haggling. I don't think you can win either way.
