To swerve Peppa Pig World

Oh dear. I have a peppa pig based dilemma. Ds just turned 3 and loves her. He keeps asking if she can come to play. He just doesn’t want to accept that mummy can’t make anything happen. I’ve tried - I don’t have mummy pigs number… she can come in summer and now it’s spring… I’ve tried discussing what we would do if she came.

I will take him to peppa pig world but I’m a bit afraid to break the seal, plus I’m seriously injured at the moment and learning about being disabled and can’t really a age a theme park yet.

I’ve decided to buy him some peppa soft toys… but does anyone else have any ideas?

Hire peppa to come to his birthday party you can find these companies online they are very life like !

FeebasAquarium · 12/04/2023 08:56

We happened to be in a sea world aquarium last year when they brought peppa out for a meet/photo.
It would be a lot easier than a theme park might be worth having a look to see if there’s one near you.

Btw she must be over six feet tall but I do remember my dc being similarly obsessed with the octonauts and they loved meeting them (also at an aquarium funnily enough)

Henry Hoover came to play at our house once, he didn’t talk much but they had lots of fun. Can you buy peppy pig theatre tickets and write a special invite to your son, saying instead of coming to play would he like to visit peppa at the theatre because she’s so busy filming TV doesn’t have time for play dates, or if you are a very silly mummy (like me) you could rent a costume and have a blast!

Angliski · 12/04/2023 09:19

Costume sounds fun!!! Let me look into a peppa- a - gram

I would say that if you're feeling more confident by summer, Paulton's is a very gentle and quiet theme park on a term time weekday.

Have you tried explaining that Peppa is a cartoon? You are feeding into his belief that everything is real by making excuses.

LlynTegid · 12/04/2023 09:24

Tell your DS that there is a nasty horrible man with blonde hair who is very unpleasant to any mummy, abandons their children, and doesn't care if grandmothers and grandfathers die. He likes Peppa Pig world, and you would not want to meet said man if you went there.

Angliski · 12/04/2023 16:50

@splilt he has just turned 3. How would you explain a cartoon to a 3 year old?

OP posts:
Angliski · 12/04/2023 16:51

@LlynTegid its not Peppa’s fault that we were run by a pig. One should never trust a man who looks like he has combed his hair with a balloon.

Stick Bluey on instead. We've never looked back!

Angliski · 12/04/2023 16:52

@Duttercup noted. Expensive though- I don’t want it to be come on the regular :)

Confused

OP wasn't asking for tips on how to traumatise her DS!

crumpet · 12/04/2023 16:54

“Pepa Pig lives in the television. She can’t come out of there to our house”

PuttingDownRoots · 12/04/2023 16:54

If it helps... as toddlers mine loved the cartoons.... but Adults dressed in the costumes absolutely terrified them. So you could be doing him a favour by steering clear!

Yellowrosesmakemehappy · 12/04/2023 16:54

You’ve misled him multiple times, in my experience of 2.5 year olds, try not to promise anything you can’t deliver or make false promises/put off telling the truth.

Always follow through on what you say unless it’s not possible due to a circumstance that occurs.

Toddlers are not stupid and they remember important things.

I would have said Peppa can’t come to play because she lives in Peppa pig land with all her animal friends. Then going to peppa pig world would be a bonus if I could manage it.

TeenDivided · 12/04/2023 16:54

How tall is your DD? Under 1m is (or at least used to be) free at PPW.

That would definitely put him off going! Unless he's some kinda toddler Boris fan of course...

At least PP world is a lovely well run park, its probably a good one to go to out of all of the theme parks

Tell me you don’t have children.

Easterchick123 · 12/04/2023 16:56

Oh Peppa. Why do they love her so much??

I think the hiring of peppa sounds much more pleasant than Peppa World. Although I can see that I'll be going there one day myself. Sigh.

Not sure why people think 3 year olds should know that things aren't real yet! They're far too young to know there's no Peppa, no Santa etc. oh how I often wish there was no Peppa Blush

Angliski · 12/04/2023 16:50

Say Peppa is pretend. I’m pretty sure he’s already noticed that it doesn’t anything look like real life. Or that the toys don’t move and talk like the cartoon does. Doesn’t mean it’s not fun and he doesn’t love it but I don’t think he actually thinks it’s real… Mine were never Peppa fans but loved Paw Patrol and I don’t think they ever thought it was real, unless I really missed something. DD1 went to full time daycare so who knows really!

changerlot · 12/04/2023 16:57

My 3 year old understands characters / pretend versus real people.

This.

We go to paultons all the time. Even at weekends and school holidays it's not very busy really. And if you have a kid like mine that never nap- after about 3pm the peppa pig part is always really empty feeling so we go on loads of rides then. Bring someone with you for moral support/help and go for it. P.s wouldn't recommend the summer - there's hardly any shade there and it can be tough on a hot day.

Theos · 12/04/2023 16:58

It’s so lovely there. I know quite a few teenagers who have played in the characters they are really nice.

Angliski · 12/04/2023 17:03

It’s 130 quid each time though!! Or if I buy a pass for the three of us it’s nearly 500. We can’t really stretch to that atm.

that’s all really interesting about pretend vs real. I did try ‘peppa only visits other animals, which worked for a bit!’
