To book a holiday...

Hi 👋 just after a bit of advice. So the next teacher strikes are scheduled for Thursday April 27th and Tues May 2nd. I don't work Fridays and Monday 1st is a BH so that's potentially 6 days in a row I'd have off work (as I plan to strike as before). For those 6 days/ 5 nights I can get a bargain holiday abroad (far far cheaper than I'd pay in school holidays). But would you risk it? Are strikes likely to be called off? Is it bad of me to even contemplate it?? Its just we never benefit from term time prices and its so tempting. What would you do??

Oh wow I hadn’t even thought of that, it’s a great idea! No idea what the likelihood is of the strikes being called off though.

Do it. I would in a heartbeat

The University and College Union suspended its planned strikes in February while talks were happening at ACAS, so it can happen. (Later strikes stayed in place, pending the outcome of the talks, but the other side was more willing to talk if they were suspended while they did so.) A couple of unions in different sectors called off strike action, too.

You'd be safer with a holiday that you can come back from early if you need to. Or go for a long weekend, returning Mon evening.
