To put the kettle on so early?

Day 2 in Canada, yesterday DS1 was awake from 3am, we came down around 4.30 to play Uno. Today DS2 has been awake from 3ish. We are down at 5 to build a Lego dragon he got in a magazine. I'm getting the brunt of this as 1)I wouldn't sleep through anyway as am a light sleeper 2)DH is doing all the driving on the wrong side of the road.

We are sharing the house with BIL and his partner, they have the only TV in the house in their room.

It's bloody echoey due to no carpets or curtains and minimal soft furnishings.

I really want a cup of tea though but the kettle will be noisy. Would I be wrong to put it on this early?

But she wants one now @tattygrl ! So would be awful to go an wake them to ask!

OH! Sorry 😂I read this as a general guest etiquette question. Absolutely not advising she wakes them up to ask whether putting the kettle on would wake them up 😝

Just make a cup of tea. If you were in my house I would want you to do this. I would probably be a wake anyway and might wander down to down you for a cuppa.

Sorry, it's not BIL hosting. They travelled with us as it's a big family reason we are here. At least if 3 adults are well rested, they can hopefully take over a bit later in today.

They woke up at 3. Tried the darkened room thing for as long as we could. But 4 yr olds don't often stay lying in the dark for long and 8yr old also has ASD so was tapping and fidgeting so much.

It's gone 6 now. I'm thinking much more acceptable to make noise.

It's also time for you to swap with your DP (I'm presuming they're with you) so you get an hour or so while they do "kid" stuff. 🤞

You're a hero for waiting this long! Yes, get the kettle on

Unless it's a talking kettle or a Sonos kettle, I would crack on.

I don't know how taps work in Canada but sometimes I make do with the tap turned to the hot water side, when it's too early to put on the kettle.

This where screen time rules go out of the window. Tablet for each of them, you sleep on the sofa.
