Well yesterday it was Tightrope - Stone Roses
today it's Sandstorm - Cast
no idea what it will be tomorrow.

Inthebathagain · 09/04/2023 06:06

I don't have 1 favourite. There are far too many songs I love, from Mozart's requiem to Rabbithole by Camelphat.

I could probably give you a top 10. But it wouldn't be the same top 10 as last year, or 10 years ago. And it'll change next year too.

Love and affection- Joanarmatrading

Too tricky!

There she goes by The Las
Little lies by Fleetwood Mac
Nothing compares 2U by Sinead O'Connor
A little time by The Beautiful South
Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison
Songbird by Fleetwood Mac
Slipping through my fingers by ABBA (though as a mum of 3 girls I can't listen to it without bawling!)
There must be an angel by Eurythmics
Last day under the sun by Volbeat
War pigs by Black Sabbath

I mostly listen to metal and rock which is hard to believe from that list!

Tbh I could go on forever, I can't understand how people have one favourite song πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ having said that There She Goes is what I walked down the aisle to which is why it's first on my list (and yes I know it's actually about heroin!)

imnotthatkindofmum · 09/04/2023 07:09

Also there's hundreds on here that are totally awesome songs, good work Mumsnet!

ginislife · 09/04/2023 07:23

I thought it was The First Cut is the Deepest by PP Arnold but last night with friends I listened to this version plus the Rod Stewart and the Cat Stevens versions back to back and I've now decided it's Rods version I prefer. But how do you pick just one song ?? The list changes all the time, or at least the place in the list does.

With or without you - U2

MosquitoBuffet · 09/04/2023 08:08

How Soon is Now? - The Smiths.

Funkyslippers · 09/04/2023 08:58

imnotthatkindofmum God I would find it hard to listen to Slipping Through My Fingers. I played that song a lot when my parents were divorcing and I missed my dad so much (he loved Abba too). Little did I know it was in the film Mamma Mia. I was mortified and has to discreetly reach for the tissues. I hate crying in the cinema! And I can relate to what you say too as I have 2 DDS, and one has moved 200 miles away to uni....😭

Funkyslippers · 09/04/2023 09:00

Can't name just one but I love:
Jealous Guy - Roxy Music
Against All Odds - Phil Collins
Animal Nitrate - Suede
Lighter Touch - Heart
Live It Up - Mental as Anything

None of mine have left yet but as they get older it's just so much more complicated and i have to be at work so much. I just feel I'm missing so much and holding it all together. That song just unravels me!

MistyFrequencies · 09/04/2023 09:05

Cactus, The Pixies.
Or Welcome Home, Dave Dobbyn- "theres a woman with her hands trembling, and she sings with a mountains memory" - that line evokes so much of my childhood and pulls my heart to Aotearoa.

whiteroseredrose · 09/04/2023 09:26

Pure by the Lightning Seeds and Sally Cinnamon by the Stone Roses. Can't pick between them.

Magnalux · 09/04/2023 09:39

Top 3 might be:
