Went for a private blood test and early scan at what I thought was 6 weeks pregnant (according to their pregnancy calculator etc). I was told I had to be 6 weeks to have both done.

I did ring up before appointment and say I don’t think I’m 6 weeks, as the calculator on the online form isn’t taking into account my cycle, which is 34 days instead of 28. I was told it would be fine and could have a re-scan and do the bloods again if it’s too early. No mention of charge at this point.

as I was signing the form I was told that if the bloods came back inconclusive, because it was too early, that I would have to pay £10 for another one in a follow up appointment. Thought fair enough.

Did the scan, they didn’t find anything and they realised I could be a lot earlier and rebooked follow up in 3 weeks time.

as I was leaving I was told when I come back in 3 weeks, I will have to pay a charge of £10 for the blood test, although I never had it done, as the clinician advised me there would be no need, as I’m earlier than 6 weeks.

i asked why I would be charged and she said because I didn’t do the blood test and that could’ve been someone else’s slot. I explained that I was told not to have it done and it’s not like I missed my appointment or didn’t show up.

I was then given an email to raise my issue with management . I strongly believe I should not have to pay for this test. It’s not life-changing money but a matter of principle, AIBU??
