To think there must be a career/ future out there for me.

I am soon going to be a single mum to two (DD4 and another on the way) and at 32 I am now needing some career advice! Never thought I would be in this position.
I got good grades in school and have a first in English but have done nothing with my degree so I know that’s fairly redundant. Straight from uni I got into restaurant management and until Covid, was a multi site operations manager. Good money but not a job for a single mum so that’s out the window. DP and I currently own convenience stores but will be selling that in the separation.

My question really is, what on earth do I do now? I have never really wanted a particular job and always just fell into what I was doing. But now I am going to need something to fit into my new life and it’s really pretty daunting. Does anyone have any advice? I don’t need to earn a huge amount but I do need an income. No mortgage/ rent at present. But there will be childcare and usual life costs.

Thank you! Calm me down please!

Maybe a school job to fit in with school holidays? But what do you enjoy doing?

Get a job in HR. Where I work you can be bone idle and totally incompetent and hold on to your job, whilst judging others.

Before the fun police shoot me I am being facetious.

@2023issucky I have thought about that.

I am definitely a people person. Customer service is my thing. Other than that, I love cooking. Like really love it and am pretty good at it but 100% don’t want to go back into restaurants.

What about working in a cafe? Baking or barista? Or a farm shop? A small business that can give you that flexibility.

@Prouddoggieparent sounds perfect! I worked in recruitment for a short time and hated it. But maybe that was because I was pregnant and hating life generally.
