The word ‘untoward’ in a medical setting?

Dr ordering tests / scans as symptoms might be untoward ….does it mean Dr might think it’s life threatening or cancer? 😞

It just means it's not normal. Which you know, or they wouldn't be ordering tests in the first place. Try not to dwell on it.

In my experience ‘sinister’ is a word sometimes used for v serious suspicions if that helps, I’d interpret untoward as any sort of illness I think.
