To get annoyed when shops do a discount after I’ve just bought something?!

I recently bought some stuff online and a couple of days later they did an ‘extra special’ discount of 15% off.

it then makes me not want to buy from them again!

I'm feeling this at the moment. Bought a new washing machine last month from Currys and yesterday I got a banner ad for the same washing machine which is now £50 cheaper. Feels like they are rubbing it in my face tbh!

Yes, it's annoying. My daughter wanted a toy, was a tenner, I didn't buy it, went down to a fiver, I literally got the last one.

You pay for convenience. You take risks for lower prices.

They also don't announce the lottery numbers until AFTER I've bought my ticket.

Bastards.

This happened to me with Hush recently after I did get an initial 10% off. About 3 days later I received an email with 15% off which the difference was about £15.

I tried my luck on their live chat and the advisor was happy to refund the difference straight away so defo worth trying.

I have to say that their customer service had always been very good

Just reorder at the discount and return the stuff that's full price!

OP has already said she can't do this as it's make up.

LicoriceComfit · 04/04/2023 08:50

You are not unreasonable to be disappointed, but you are being unrealistic - that’s how sales work!

Martinisarebetterdirty · 04/04/2023 09:09

I particularly hate it when you buy something full price when the sales are in full swing feeling that you are safe as it won’t go in the sale now, then the bastards do a new lines added and your dress which you’ve worn goes half price. Just mark down everything at once! I now try to only buy either at the start of a season when I know I will wear something or when something is on sale (said dress was a random impulse buy and I love it but still!)

benten54 · 04/04/2023 09:19

You were happy to purchase at the original price though. So you've not lost anything. It's merely theoretical. Everything you buy will be discounted at some stage.

StripyHorse · 04/04/2023 09:26

To appreciate the 'bargain' of sale goods means someone must have bought at full price. The flip side, means sometimes that someone will be you.

With make up I try and hang on for a discount code, or at the very least try and use boots points etc. I don't impulse buy make up though (except at the cosmetics outlet store) so when I know I getting low I keep an eye out for a offers.

LovelyLovelyWarmCoffee · 04/04/2023 10:49

I very often email them to ask if they would refund me the difference to avoid me having to re-order and return the first order. Sometimes they say yes. If not I just do the re-order / return, really easy.
