Should mention as a household we have had pretty much every bug going around this winter and Im slightly at the end of my tether! Grin

Woke up on Friday with sore sinuses and a bit of a head cold but nothing major. Then yesterday got the worst stomach I've ever had, constant feeling of nausea, stomach gurgling but by far the worst bit is constant diarrhoea, it comes without any warning so (tmi I'm sorry!!) I've literally soiled myself at least 3 times which I've never done before.

I'm also feeling like I'm on the verge of having a fever/chills. So I feel a bit cold then a bit hot and am achey but not quite bad enough to call it chills if that makes sense.

All day yesterday I thought the stomach upset was to do with a medication I took but I doubt that now as it's been too long out of my system.

Has anybody else got this at the moment? I feel like I need some solidarity haha

There is a Norovirus outbreak in Ireland in the past few weeks. A GP was on the radio giving advice.
Interesting fact - those hand disinfectants we all used during Covid are no use for Norovirus as they are alcohol based.
People need to be stringent about washing their hands with soap and water.

I’ve just been talking about this with a friend. I feel like I’m on the edge of illness but it never quite hits. It’s been weeks if a cycle of mild sore throats, stomach upset and muscle aches or tiredness on and off

Hmmmm, why wouldn't people test? Especially if the question is, "what is wrong with me?". If there was a test for flu or the common cold or D&V it would also be the natural thing to do to answer that question. It lets you know what you have had. This thread shows people care about that. It gives a bit of information.

The real question is why are you so passionately angry. I hate the word hysterical because it's so anti-women. But you are the one who sounds irrational about something as simple as a test. Sorry to hear you are feeling this way and hope your "madness" subsides soon, best wishes. ;)

We have this
"I'm on the verge of having a fever/chills. So I feel a bit cold then a bit hot and am achey but not quite bad enough to call it chills if that makes sense."

But not the D&V. We've been drenched in sweat about double the amount we have ever experienced before. Felt a cold chill with it but not shivering. Very tired. And a weird pins and needles in head, neck and shoulders. It's weird , unlike any illness I've experienced before. The fact it has some similarities might mean it's related.

Norovirus is going around in my area NW. DD’s class had 11 out 28 kids off with it last week. Another reception class in the same school had 5 off with Chickenpox over the last 3 weeks.
@Crystalmays my niece gets sore eyes/conjunctivitis whenever she gets a virus. Even if it’s just a cold.

On and off in our house for 3 weeks. Started with ds having mild diarrhoea and then we all got the chills, snotty nose, tiredness.

DelilahBucket · 02/04/2023 18:14

The only time I've experienced those symptoms is from food poisoning so it may be completely unrelated to any bug.

Mimilamore · 02/04/2023 18:23

Yup, had it from Sunday last week, felt marginally better on Wednesday but no energy and low mood. Still don't feel 100% now a week later. Tested neg for covid.

Sorry to hear your suffering too! I'm glad you understood what I meant though, it's hard to describe as it's not quite a fever/chills but feels very close to it!

Could be flu, OP. Proper flu often has gastro symptoms as well as respiratory. Or covid, the lfts aren't great at picking it up.
For certain pps could we quit with the 'why are people still testing so hysterical blah blah'. For clinically vulnerable people covid is still potentially a death sentence. Some of us have to test because we need antivirals if it is. And we also have family and friends who care about us enough to test to make sure they dont give it to us. Ditto healthcare workers, carers etc (although some seem as ignorant as you).
Back to OP, hope you feel better soon 💐

Yes we've all had this and it spread slowly through the whole house which made me think it was not a stomach bug. My daughter brought it home from nursery. Started with a sore throat and fever, then vomiting and diarrea and awful nausea and finally a banging headache for days!! It's taken me about two weeks to feel normal again. We all tested negative for covid. I think it was a fly type bug. Two weeks of non stop washing and feeling like crap. You have my sympathies!!
