To think there's not much difference in having a small dog over a big dog?

Okay i don't mean some giant breed like a Great Dane but is the difference between a breed the size of a Labrador and say a dachshund much different? Is it solely the amount of exercise?

Id rather a medium sized dog but DH is adamant he only wants a dog if it's a small breed? Asked him why and all he can give me is "well it's smaller" well no shit.

Surely there's not THAT much in it?

Size directly correlates to cost and me when it comes to dogs.

Cost - more food, more expensive equipment (harnesses, vet beds, crates, coats are all more expensive the bigger they are). More sedative for operations, more expensive meds.

Mess - shit and size of coat. Also more mud and dirt

My dog is 13kgs. He's not tiny but I can pick him up and wash him in the butler sink.

Bigger dog = bigger mess.
Most of the table corners and chair arms in our house were chewed by a teething larger breed.
Plus more food = more costs = more poo.

Not no shit but certainly less of it. Cheaper food bills, lighter to carry around/have laying on your lap, take up less space on the couch/in the bed/car. But most importantly imo smaller breeds live generally live longer than larger ones.

We have a40kg greyhound. He needs less walking, smells less, drops less hair than our previous 18 kg collie.

He does need bigger beds, a million poo bags, more food and is difficult to lift into the car.

He is worth every mountain of poo and the fact that my washing line is full of dog coats.
