Company doesn't care about absences and I'm left with the workload

Work in a job that are continuously hiring (they're under agencies etc) and are always advertising. The role is then heavily based on training and a lot of money and time is put into training the employees in the role.

I've been off once in the 3 years I've been here, I've come in if I was physically able to, even if I've felt a bit shit. I care about my job and do my best. Issue I have is I am just constantly picking up the slack for everyone else people are constantly just off sick or call in because childcare fell through or the car broke down! Colleague is off this week because his carpool is on holiday!? Company literally don't seem to care because to them, it's not worth losing these people they have invested in, but even the newer ones they don't wanna get rid of because obviously they want to train them in positions that they can't fill. I'm the one that suffers though. They seem to just say "ok you won't get sick pay as you're not sick it will go down as unpaid"

Someone used up their 100 days company sick pay and came back from a meeting and I asked what our manager said and she said oh he just told me he was having the meeting because HR makes him?? I'm aware she has a longer term health issue but wtf.

I had a meeting with my manager about how I'm unhappy having to constantly take on the workloads and all he could tell me was "don't focus on other people, just focus on yourself".

The pay is actually decent so it's hard for me to leave as the hours are also suitable but it's really painful to know those other people are getting that same pay and hours anyway.

They are taking your goodwill and loyalty for granted.

Get another job.

So you are one of the 'drag yourself in no matter how sick you are' people who then wonder why half the office is off sick?

Those reasons you have given are normal day to day things that happen in a work place. People go off sick, childcare falls through, cars break down.

So one of three things is happening:

You are martyring yourself and no one wants you coming in ill or taking everything on to then moan about how busy you are

You are no good at pushing back and managing expectations so you just take more and more

You have crappy managers who won't take no for an answer

If its option 1 you will find the same issue in every workplace

If its option 2 this is partly you but also partly bad management because good managers will notice who does this and try to stop it from happening

If its option 3 its a crap workplace and you need a new job

This is your fault.

You are choosing to constantly pick up their slack.

Stop doing it.

Whilst you do it, it will continue to happen.

Stop picking up their slack

Work your hours and only your hours

The managers will quickly realise
