What can I get up to? Any good book recommendations or something to binge on Netflix. Do not know what to be getting up to

Are you completely solo? Where are you in the country? Vague interests?

granddadtumble · 01/04/2023 15:05

Ugh I can't wait for this to be me.

I would go for a spa or at least a massage and a facial.

Catch up on sleep and binge watch Netflix.

Go out for a lovely dinner outside the city I live in.

Shopping spree.

The list is endless.

Just me myself and I. I'm in Scotland x

I would spend the first couple of hours sorting house / jobs so I can enjoy a tidy house for a few days!

how you spend your time would depend on what you enjoy. I’d do the following;

  • work out
  • cook my fave foods
  • long walk
  • long bath
  • read a book
  • go for a meal with a friend
memesndmoreme · 01/04/2023 15:13

Any Netflix recommendations or good books? I think I'll get my garden sorted one of the days

It’s a big adjustment. Are you newly single?

what kind of books do you like? Asda have a decent 2 for £8 selection x

Oysterbabe · 01/04/2023 15:25

What kind of stuff do you like? I'm a true crime fan and enjoyed the Murdaugh Murders on Netflix recently.

I like most things apart from Sci fi, action things. Loved call the midwife, good girls, breaking bad, pieces of her...

Not newly single. I like crime/thriller books

I'd jump on a plane or book into a hotel, if I had the budget

memesndmoreme · 01/04/2023 15:39

@keepingsanity 🤣if I could afford to it would be bliss.

Cinema? Theatre? Long leisurely brunch? Enjoy whatever you end up doing!

keepingsanity · 01/04/2023 16:22

In that case I'd bake because I enjoy it, batch cook too. Go for a nice pub lunch. Settle for a big takeaway and film one night. See my friends and have a few drinks. Maybe go shopping or to a museum or theatre. Read a really good book with a big bag of crisps. Paint my toenails and pamper. Wander about the garden centre and buy a plant and have a coffee and big slice of cake

Bookshipper · 01/04/2023 16:26

Amazing and lucky you! My recommendations:

Watch:

  • Happy Valley (bbc iplayer I think) - crime drama
  • love is blind (netflix) - dating series for a bit of light watching
  • the last of us (now tv) - excellent post apocalyptic series

Do:

  • long bath with wine and books
  • take yourself to the high street and peruse at your leisure in a way you never could with kids getting bored
  • go to a big waterstones and spend ages finding books
  • sit in a nice coffee shop, get yourself their best sandwich and cake and coffee, spend time reading or being on your phone or whatever you enjoy
  • sort out that one thing you've been meaning to do for ages (ie collecting old clothes for charity, your hair, teeth etc)

Enjoy!

memesndmoreme · 01/04/2023 17:27

I'm starting to look forward to it now with all your lovely ideas. Anyone watched heartland?

Lisa Jewell books are great

gettingolderbutcooler · 01/04/2023 17:44

Blanket, sofa, chocolate in mahoosive quantity, crisps, dips, wine, paid for films and a huge bubble bath as a break.
You lucky, lucky cow.

SpongeBob2022 · 01/04/2023 17:48

See friends or family if you want to but if alone....

I would go for a long walk with a podcast. If you don't like walking aimlessly them walk specifically to somewhere e.g. closest town and back.

Coffee and cake in a cafe and a wander round town (I love being on my own but for three days I'd want to be around some bustle for a little bit).

Pick up some things to eat that you like but you never get to cook because your children don't.

Takeaway.

Housework job you've been putting off. Watch something on iPad while you do it.

Go to bed early and watch telly. On at least one of the days, sleep in then watch a box set all morning.

I like Lisa Jewell books also. And Tim Weaver.

Just started the Night Agent on Netflix.
Love Grey's but that's on Disney and The Good Wife but not sure whether it's on a platform currently.

QuickNameChangeForMeToday · 01/04/2023 18:07

If it was me I would…

Day 1 - Blast housework (and then enjoy a lovely clean child free house for a few days).
Sort out the garden for spring (see it’s in your to do list).
Shower, collapse in a heap and watch Tv.

Day 2 - Get my nails done. Go for coffee and cake then a walk around The Burrell collection (keep meaning to go since it reopened). Possibly all of the above with a friend if you fancy. Home to continue Tv binge.

Day 3 - Go a walk in the morning then I would have a completely chilled afternoon at home. Long bath, read a book, watch tv and chill.

I think I would pick a series of movies instead of a Tv series.

Belledan1 · 01/04/2023 18:15
