Is this normal?

Sometimes I can hear my heart beating really loudly in my ears. It’s definitely my own heart beat and it’s in perfect sync with my pulse. At times I can also physically feel my heart beating inside my head. Know when you’ve ran a marathon and your heart feels like it’s throbbing out of your chest, it’s like that- but in my head.

is that normal? Does anyone else experience this too?

I get this often. I went to the GP who said it’s a form of tinnitus and generally not concerning.

I do get tinnitus too.

Pulsatile tinnitus possibly

Only when I'm lying in bed on my side, so I think it's my pulse in my ears or something

I get it and have had it all my life. I remember being terrified of hearing my pulse as a child, when lying town. I still find it very unsettling. A couple of years ago it sounded much louder in my left ear. I actually slept propped up for a few months. I saw my GP and he told me it was ear wax causing it. He cleaned out my ear and it did make a difference. I can still hear my pulse in both ears and have to make sure that I lie down in a certain position to avoid hearing it. Strangely enough, I heard it in my head for the first time today.

I haven't heard of pulsatile tinnitus. Cardiophobia is a thing as well. I also experience little surges in my head, which I believe is caused by anxiety.

I get this in some positions when I’m lay on my side. When is it happening for you?

Good to know it’s normal and nothing terrible. It’s very annoying and starts for no reason. It’s worse when I lie down but also happens when I sit and stand up at times too
