Working at Butlins?

Has anyone worked at Butlins?

I'm in my late thirties, I was born in the UK, but my family moved to Ireland when I was 8. I work in a customer service role in Ireland.

I want to move to the UK this year. I suffer from anxiety and I am a bit mentally weak so things are a little bit difficult for me. I want to move to the UK but The thought of moving country to the UK, trying to find a room to rent, and then trying to find a job felt really stressful to me . I knew I would probably have to rent an air b and b for a month then try to find a room then try to find a job.

My family suggested applying for jobs in the UK where accomodation is included, as that would take the accomodation stress out of it for me.

I have applied for a customer service role in Butlins and have been asked to go for interview next week. Accomodation is included (subsidised).

Even though I would like this job. Im just a bit concerned that I'm a bit too old for this kind of job. Is Butlins full of teenagers and young twenty year olds working there?

Do people in their thirties/ forties work in Butlins? Has anyone worked there and knows what it is like? Thanks.

Late 20s to late 40s mostly. You will be fine. Most staff have finished college as they prefer to take on a base of staff who can cover long term more than just the summer season. In the summer and holiday periods they top up with summer staff. Which camp are you looking at?

My teen cousin worked there. The accommodation offered was a shared room , the house was always in want of repair and they didn't pay her all of the overtime she worked without a fight.

Also , when she called in sick the accommodation manager would knock on her bedroom door to try to get her to go to work.

From what I've seen the accommodation is pretty grim, not something someone late 30s would want to live in.

DP has done contract work there putting on concerts etc). He says the staff accommodation and food is grim, and he's not particularly fussy.

Ooh thanks for the answers. I'll go for the interview and have a look around and try to see what it would be like.
