Can you please tell me how to tell a colleague not to talk to me unless it's about work but in a more polite manner?

I really need a more eloquent way of pretty much saying the above without coming across as rude.

Sometimes I pretend I cant hear people because I'm concentrating so hard on my work. Then they go away.
