For March so far not including tomorrow’s shopping delivery of £230, I have spend £970 on groceries this month. Including tomorrows shop the last of the month the grand total will be £1200! Wtf this time last year it was about half that amount.
How much are you all spending? We are a family of 5 the 3 kids are aged between 11-16.

Same as that, and there's two of us and two cats 😂 you're doing fine!

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 30/03/2023 12:45

Mine is about the same, also 3 kids (16, 18 & 20). The 16 year old also buys lunch at school.

Bemyclementine · 30/03/2023 12:46

Just been through my online orders. Having a delivery tomorrow, which will take it to around £350 for March. 1 adult, 2 DC (6 and 7) 2 cats.

horseymum · 30/03/2023 12:46

Have a watch of eat well for less on iPlayer. You will certainly be able to cut back on thot even though prices have gone up and children grown.

User639762456 · 30/03/2023 12:46

About £700 for two adults

MrsTWH · 30/03/2023 12:46

Yes we’re spending approx £700 a month for a family of 4 (two teens). Includes toiletries and washing stuff.

nailsathome · 30/03/2023 12:47

£500 for 2 adults, 4 kids and pets. Used to be able to do it for around £300.

Smartiepants79 · 30/03/2023 12:47

Thats £300 a week on food!! Where are you shopping!
I reckon that all together I spend about £100 a week on food . Sometimes a bit more, sometimes less. There are 4 of us including 1 teenager and 1 large man!
Absolute maximum of £500 a month.

DanceMonster · 30/03/2023 12:48

About the same as you. 2 adults, 3 children aged 9, 7 and 4.

nextime · 30/03/2023 12:48

Approx £400-£450 a month for two adults, small child and a baby

FluffyUnionSocks · 30/03/2023 12:48

Ok maybe it’s not so bad after all but I’m still shocked. I have seen multiple threads where people claim to spend £70-80 a week on groceries, eat 5 course meals like royalty with multiple snacks throughout the day and it made me wonder what I’m doing wrong.

About £600 for five of us

SpinningFloppa · 30/03/2023 12:49

around £800 a month. I’m looking forward to the holidays as it will actually be cheaper for me to have my children at home (packed lunches are costing a fortune 😑)

CatOnTheChair · 30/03/2023 12:49

Before opening, I calculated it.
I reckon £800 a month on average - obviously less on 4 week months, and more on 5 week months.
That's 2 adults, 2 Tweens, and includes alcohol and cleaning stuff, and half the cat food (other half is delivered at £30 a month).

A year ago, it was closer to £500.

sixfoot · 30/03/2023 12:50

About £450 / month for two adults and two teens. My best way to keep costs down is only buy ingredients.

MsCunk · 30/03/2023 12:51

We try to keep it at about £650 altogether for 2 adults, 4 dc (2 secondary, 2 primary), and 2 cats. It was about £100 cheaper only a few months ago.

FluffyUnionSocks · 30/03/2023 12:51

@nailsathome what do you cook? £500 for six people eating three meals a day is impressive.

FruitBadger · 30/03/2023 12:51

March to date £345, for 2 adults and 2 children (age 5 & 8) and a cat. That includes one Hello Fresh box with 5 meals in it. Kids both have school lunches but husband & I both eat stuff from home for lunch. Another delivery booked for tomorrow and have popped to the shops for forgotten bits which aren't included about but I would expect the bill to be under £450 for the month.

GiltEdges · 30/03/2023 12:52

We budget for £900/month for two adults and a 4yo. A year ago, it'd have probably been closer to £750-800.

OverHereTryingToFigureItOut · 30/03/2023 12:53

Family of 4, eldest eats like an aduot, youngest eats like a bird. We usually come in at £6-700 per month, even with having to buy a few GF items.

Thinking about it, probably more like £700 altogether, with top up milk and bread runs.

WafflingDreamer · 30/03/2023 12:53

We spend £90-110 a week on food. 2 adults 3 kids, we don't drink alcohol and try to meal plan as much as we can

FluffyUnionSocks · 30/03/2023 12:53

@OneFrenchEgg what are you cooking please? You have the same number of children and spent half the amount I have.

Once a week deliver around £120 for the basics, £80-£100 on treats / top up / alcohol. £20 per week on DTs lunch account (they take packed but get £10 for snacks at break). The delivery covers breakfast / packed lunch for DTs and DH, my lunch when I'm WFH and dinner 5-6 nights week. We eat out / get a takeaway on one night.

I buy breakfast and lunch when I'm in the office. Just paid £8 for a Subway.

Two adults and two tweens who eat adult portions.

Houseofpainjumparound · 30/03/2023 12:54

Between 600-700 2 adults 2 under 5 and 3 cats....

It's crazy expensive... some things are 50p more.... squash used to be 2 for £2 and now £2 each!
