Is it unreasonable not to service lease car?

Talking to husband and I'm worried about penalty's at the end
We have always leased but maintained contract so i didn't ever have a massive bill for 500£ for something
I am worried it will not be fairly priced if they service it when I return it
It's come on in the car

Audi A6 21 plate if it makes a difference
Thanks

Check your finance agreement. Some will include the option to pay for servicing - my Volvo does.

What concerns me is the 7000km tyres. The compound must have been really soft to wear through a set that quickly. Either that or you accelerate and brake really hard. Without it being serviced I’d be worried about the brakes to be honest.

No the car literally said change oil, not top up
I was so mad, the thing was like 12 months old

It doesn't have a dipstick it's a lid and you can buy an official Audi one from their website but even the aa didn't carry it as apparently Audi say to use computer

I would check the servicing - 12 months is a standard time for an oil change which is probably why it asked for one regardless of the mileage

Usually a dipstick will have a yellow 'handle'.

I've done a quick search. It seems that for some Audis the dipstick hole has a cap fitted that you remove, insert the dipstick, then remove dipstick and replace the cap.

I think someone needs to sit down and read the manual.

How on Earth did you manage to need 2 new tyres at only 7k miles? Have you been parking on kerbs or is your area particularly bad for potholes, etc? Tyres should last 20k or so.

Not unreasonable at all for the driven tyres on a big heavy car, especially if it’s driven reasonably hard. I’ve got cars where I expect a pair of rears to last 2-3k miles!

Audi in common with many cars don't fit a dipstick to some cars as standard. My 2003 Mercedes doesn't have one. You can buy one but there's no real need as the computer can check the oil.

billyt · 30/03/2023 13:07

Yep, and computer said change the oil at 7000 miles!!

No I don't because I know there isn't a stick lol

We missed a service on a leased car (not deliberately, just forgot 🙈) and they whacked an almost £500 penalty on when we returned it.

Yeah sod that!!!!

I would double check the service intervals because if it's missed it then you can't catch it up (there's usually a bit of leeway of around a month or 1000 miles)
But even if the car had done 7000 miles in a year, and it's service intervals are 12,000 miles/12 months, it needs doing at the 12 months

Oooh no need for the snarky comments... ...not all cars have dipsticks, my mercedes doesnt.

babasaclover · 30/03/2023 18:34

I've got a limeade A6 and wow it is awesome!!!

I've gone 5500 miles and not needed anything according to car dash but lease company want it done. I don't mine either way as it's part of maintenance package but the car basically still feels brand new so is frustrating

Let us know how you get on

Dunno about OPs but the Audi A3 I had set the oil change interval itself based on monitoring the kind of use it had. If OPs has the same and it's been thrashed (as she says) a lot and done a lot of short trips 7K would be appropriate.

BungleandGeorge · 30/03/2023 22:10

How do you top Up the oil level without a dipstick?

Some of them are computer only so it tells you how much it needs

BCfan · 30/03/2023 22:46

Your contract will say it has to be maintained in line with manufacturers guidelines (almost always annual or 10k miles, whichever is first)

I've leased quite a few cars and found that if you lease from the dealer they are strict about this but if you lease from a big company that has multiple lease vehicles they don't really care or fine you at the end as they just chuck them all in auctions

Thanks for this also helpful
I've booked it to mind the car because I love it and don't want a fine
