Are some people just a bit shit?

I'm not intelligent, and I am poor at managing social situations. I also have ADD but I suspect that's not really true because from what I have seen, most people with ADHD or ADD are far more intelligent than me so I wonder if I have an undiagnosed brain injury as family history contains a lot of vascular disease. But probably that's just me making another excuse.

I'm really, really anxious all the time and on a waiting list for therapy for past trauma. This all impacts me most in that I struggle in the workplace, I am seriously incompetent.

But - am I wasting my time? Therapy will not make me be able to learn skills faster or more efficiently? Like I'll still be fucking thick?

Has anyone ever had therapy which then sort of freed up bandwidth and made them less shit at life?

Because that's what I need and I don't know if it exists.

When you are anxious, it's really hard to concentrate or learn or remember anything or hear what people are saying to you. I've had anxiety all my life. I've never had a career because of it and the idea of working with people in an office is so ludicrous, I might as well dream of being an astronaut! So for work I have had to do cleaning, caring, decorating etc despite the fact I have a degree . I agree with the others, you definitely don't sound thick, it's your anxiety tripping you up. I have an ACT therapist. She really helps me with this stuff.

Genuine question, how does a wheat intolerance affect you cognitive abilities? Is it the same as an allergic reaction? How did you know you had this and have you noticed a big difference since the change. I have lactose intolerance it’s physical (gut reaction) rather than anything else, is that the same? Do you agree with some that food changes would cure autism?

Wheat intolerance definitely affects brain function. I had this and it was like my brain was full of cotton wool, like trying to think through treacle. Really difficult.

To answer the OP first post, yes I think a coach can be immensely helpful. My work provided 3 coaching sessions and it has made a big difference to my work life.
The trick is finding the right one for you.
Are you on Instagram? You can use it's algorithms to your advantage - type in a few search words like coach and ADHD, see what that throws up over a week or so.
Follow some coaches that you like their content and see who fits your budget. It really is an investment in yourself.

ZOMBIE! I'd imagine OP has long gone given she posted in March and never came back!
