One of my adult children recently received an award. She sent a photo the presentation of this to a friend who immediately posted it with 'I'm so proud of my friend ' on several sites which was then copied by one of MY friends and posted again with 'I'm so proud of my friend's daughter ' etc.
My daughter and I are both cross, as surely it was for her to decide whether to post anything and if so to do it herself and then perhaps for me (as a very proud mother) to follow on after checking she was happy for me to do this.
We are quite private people and this has taken the shine off it somehow.
It's obviously too late to do or say anything now but why do people do this?
AIBU to feel this knee jerk posting is riding on people's coat tails somehow and they should have asked/waited?

YANBU to think she shouldn't have posted without permission.

YABVU however to let that take the shine off an award.

SmileyPaella Yes I agree, it should take the shine off the award, it was just seeing my daughter's dismay at seeing how quickly people can do this that upset me too.

They shouldn't have posted. It is unreasonable to think its taken the shine off.
