To change dentist for ruining my teeth

Hi, has anybody changed nhs dentist within the same surgery? If so, was it awkward, and how did you go about it? There is probably no capacity to change anyway, I realise getting an nhs dentist in the first place is like gold dust atm. I have completely lost faith in my dentist after numerous failed treatments.

I only wish I could afford larger treatments privately; it is awful when you can't trust your dentist. He will do a check up and say everything is fine, then I have to point out obvious cavities!

We had this problem too :(

JustMyLuck I hope you can change dentist without any problems. I very recently changed my son to another dentist in the practice we are at because I wanted him to have the same dentist as me. The receptionist said she had to check my dentist was taking on new patients. After she confirmed that he is taking on new patients my son was moved. When we first moved to the practice we ended up with different dentist but I was just glad to be away from my old dentist.

Private treatment is so expensive. My new dentist does nhs and private. I paid for private root canal and crown. I am very happy with the result but it was more than I could afford.

Good luck

I switched dentist within the same practice several years ago without any problem. I ended up seeing my really nice dentist when he was filling in for a colleague and he said if I wanted to switch to him just ask at the reception desk. I did and now I have a lovely and very good NHS dentist.

Thank you so much Twonkyboo, I'm pleased you got in with the same dentist, it is much easier when you can take a dc and have a double check up etc. That's it, private prices are astronomical

BeatriceLacey that sounds great, and so reassuring that you had already had him and felt at ease.

Update: I have rang up and they said I can change, and they'll check to see if there is capacity for one of the other dentists to take me. I hope they can or I'll feel very awkward!
