I don’t mean LTB, spa day etc, but links. Like to the Philip Larkin poem if someone is posting about their parents or to the Elle Beau blog every time someone mentions an MLM. I get fooled thinking it’s something new and interesting every time. There are others … what are there?

Seriously, some of the horrible stuff on here and people are getting upset over someone saying ‘people always post a Philip Larkin poem’ 🤣

Terry Pratchett's "Vimes' Boots" paragraph. Maybe cute in a twee sort of way the first time. Smug, grating and useless the next hundred times.

It's the middle-class oversimplified, patronising view of poverty, devoid of nuance and sugar coated.

And not actually Pratchett's idea - it originated in The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists.

To be fair, the majority of posters on MN probably don't spend loads of time on here. So, when someone says "I'm pissed off my parents have ruined me" someone might think "oh, I'll share this nice poem I read the other day"...

I mean, it's probably just nice people trying be helpful!

What a mean thread, some posters actually taking the piss out of people for using common sayings or phrases. Seriously, get a life.

I'd never heard of Lundy Bancroft and just looked him up. Read excerpts on Goodreads and I'm seriously impressed.

If you're reading lots of threads about the same problem, you're bound to come across repetition of advice.

OP, I'm sure you annoy people sometimes too! I just think people are trying to be helpful.

Maybe people don't have time to read every thread on every subject, so come across something for the first time, which may, to others, be a repetition.

Does it matter of it helps someone?
