to think serving MPs accepting £10 000 a day to "further the interests" of foreign companies should from that point no longer be serving MPs?

Matt Hancock and Kwasi Kwarteng

How is this not a criminal offence? How is this acceptable in any way shape or form?

Don't tell me these are "consultancy fees" These two idiots are not "consultants" - they have no expertise in anything to offer, they are accepting thousands to buy political influence

Exactly @RiverRock22 and the consequence has been £££££ of taxpayers money wasted. It's not even a hypothetical risk, it's already happened.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/03/2023 12:13

I am not surprised. This shower of corrupt fuckers are going to rinse what's left of the country over the next year.

Greedy, corrupt, Tory bastards.Angry

they are "identifying people in the government to approach and how to do it in the most appropriate way"

They are earning 10k a day by selling political influence

I am not defending the Tories (or anyone else for that matter) because I despise the lot of them. But (a) advising on political influence / lobbying is not illegal and (b) whilst I am open to a discussion about whether it should be or not, there is no difference to me in whether it is a "UK" company or a "foreign" one - in international capitalism there is nothing to choose between them.

As for "how much of it is going on for real" - has everybody been asleep for their entire lives? The use of political influence in all spheres has been going on since people invented "democracy" - and before that it happened at court.

They should be held accountable. It’s absolutely disgusting.

We need rid of this shower of greedy, only thinking about lining their own pockets bastards!

That amount is more like corruption to buy access than a consultancy fee (which would also be inappropriate, given their current positions). I hope they are charged. Frightening they carried out no basic due diligence on the company, as it could have been to carry out activities that were problematic. Would also have saved them getting stung. Greedy, corrupt idiots.
