People singing along to concerts

Ok, it’s been a really long time since I went to a concert but I sometimes watch videos of concerts and I’ve noticed more and more that it’s the audience that’s singing and you can’t hear the actual artist.

Concert tickets are so expensive these days. I get that it’s fun to sing along but surely people would rather hear the musician sing. I’m I just being old fashioned here?

Nothing worse than drunk people singing badly over the actual singer.

Saw Pixies when they toured the UK last, think it was 2018. Tosser in his 20s bellowing out the lyrics behind me at edge of packed mosh pit. During applause I asked him to stop so he started leaning into me, knocking me and screeching along louder (and Pixies play loud) because I told him I'd paid to hear Black Francis, not him. I moved as I didn't want my husband to end up in a fight and this dickhead was getting physically aggressive, slamming into me while pogoing. I did say to his partner as we left that she should always note how your partner treats women and she nodded. What an absolute prick!

I saw Queen back in the day. Everyone was singing, so it has always happened

I like to take my Stylophone along to join in at classical piano concerts.
I suspect I'm not very good, as a lot of people glower at me. Unfortunately I lost the instruction manual some years ago and I don't think Rolf Harris publishes his address anymore so I can't ask for another one.

I saw the clip of The Bodyguard thing on TikTok and it was shocking. It was really loud. She must have been drunk. Hopefully she feels embarrassed about it now, but I suspect not.

Don't be so fucking ridiculous.

People have always sung at rock and pop concerts and I would expect them to.

Perhaps you would like to watch a recording of Live Aid for evidence. And I don't mean the bits where the crowd is invited to sing.

A gig or concert is not a theatre show. It's a completely different etiquette.

Surely singing along Is part of the fun of seeing your favourite (whoever,) I've never been anywhere where the sound system is so bad that the singer is drowned out!
