Removal man tried to sell me weight loss drinks

As if moving day wasn't stressful enough, one of the removal men out of the blue, during in a conversation about packing, said that he can sell me drinks to help me loose weight and will give me more information.

AIBU in that this was completely uncalled for? Does a complete stranger have any right to comment on a customer's weight and try to sell them weight loss products?

As it turned out, he didn't give any more information.

Well, he won't be salesperson of the year, honestly I would have probably laughed at him.

cupofteaandabiccyplease · 24/03/2023 18:47

I'd complain, what a knob.

Please don't put in a complaint. The dude is probably selling herbalife or some bollocks and was chancing his arm. I'd doubt he was making an actual comment on your weight

myusernamewastakenbyme · 24/03/2023 18:54

Sounds like hes been roped into doing a shitty mlm scheme....Id have said 'no thanks' and carried on with my day....I certainly would not report him....he might be on the bones of his arse trying to make a bit of extra cash.

Absolute bollocks, he was there to move furniture not to offer weight loss advice to @Namechangeallchangeplease and to make money from her
Bloody rude, unprofessional and unwanted
Complain-loudly

I had a similar experience, but my removal man was trying to sell me a printers that he had in the back of his van..he even offered me two for the price of one..

I wouldn't report it, as it's not like he was intimidating or put pressure on you. It's cheeky more than anything else. I'd also keep in mind removal men aren't overly well paid, and it's a really tough time for everyone right now so I can understand why he's trying to earn something on the side. I agree about the comments about being roped into some dodgy MLM.

Also, I'm sure you didn't take it as such, but it's obviously not a comment on your weight if it's something he already had with him.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 24/03/2023 18:58

It's probably those juice plus things or whatever they're called. He'll have spaffed a load of dosh on 'samples' and 'sales packs' and be desperately trying to sell it to anyone with a pulse to claw some money back. It wasn't a comment on your weight, I'm sure. He'd be trying to flog them to Kate Middleton given half a chance. Bloody MLMs.

Bintymcbintface · 24/03/2023 18:58

He was there making money from her anyways, he was cheeky for sure but putting in a complaint is a bit much

I was in a nightclub at uni and there was a man going around giving out gym leaflets. He gave one to me (size 10-12) and another girl who was quite a bit bigger. I challenged him on it and he said he was giving them to everyone. He wasn’t. It made me feel shit and I wasn’t even big, I just wasn’t thin.

I would make a complaint, personally.

He was there because its his job that he's paid for not to line his own pocket

Bintymcbintface · 24/03/2023 19:06

He hardly works for free

Eh ? Not to line his own pocket with making money on the side. Clear enough for you now @Bintymcbintface ?

I disagree with you, you disagree with me, that's fine, give up

😱😳😡👀what an absolute tool-was he svelte and God's gift to women? No, I bet he wasn't. And as for this hard times nonsense, bolleaux. As someone said so eloquently on another thread yesterday (rude lodger telling her landlady she eats too much), you could be mainlining lard and it still wouldn't be appropriate to comment.

Reddickyouless · 24/03/2023 21:04

You just don't do that @Bintymcbintface , if you have a side line you don't approach your employers clients
You find your own, independent leads that may have shown an interest
Clients may not use that business again because of him
I wouldn't
