Accepting offers for sixth form: one or two?

Posting in AIBU for traffic.

DD (Year 10) has applied to two different state schools to do her A-levels. She has conditional offers from both: one with higher GCSE grade requirements (school A), one with lower (school B). She'd prefer to go to school A but we don't know for sure that she'll achieve the grades.

Can we accept both offers, keeping school B as a safety net, and then cancel her place there if she gets the grades for school A? Would it be illegal/immoral to do that, or is it fine? Just wondering what everybody else does...

I'm amazed she has to apply in year 10. I teach a lot of sixth form and there's always loads that accept more than one space. It's a pain as you never know how many will turn up to your class in September!

Argh, sorry, she's year 11! So starting sixth form later this year.

Completely normal to do that.

Of course she can, that’s normal practise

Thanks everybody, I'll accept both then.
