Easter eggs in the cupboard

Theeasterbunnyexists · 23/03/2023 00:04

I live abroad and the nicer Easter eggs (pricier too unfortunately) always go fast and I end up having to get my Dd quite rubbish ones.
I can’t buy them and put them in the fridge as she’d see them and the surprise would be ruined.
Can they be stored upstairs in a cupboard for two weeks if I were to get them this weekend, or do they go bad 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chocolate doesn't have to be refrigerated, they'll be fine.

PatriciaHolm · 23/03/2023 00:06

Why would Easter eggs go bad before Easter?

Assuming you don't live somewhere insanely hot, it's the same as them being on the supermarket shelf. They'll be fine!

Redglitter · 23/03/2023 00:07

Itd be strange chocolate if it went off in the space of a few weeks

DdraigGoch · 23/03/2023 00:08

Chocolate isn't safe in a cupboard in my house.

It needs to be kept in a locked safe to which I don't know the combination!

Wisterical · 23/03/2023 00:09

What? Chocolate shouldn't be kept in the fridge!

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/03/2023 00:12

Why would you keep chocolate in the fridge?

Theeasterbunnyexists · 23/03/2023 00:13

I have no idea why I thought it might go bad 😂chocolate doesn’t stay in our house for long enough to have tested it.
It’s true I don’t know how I’ll keep it in a cupboard for two weeks without tucking in, but really want her to have nice ones this time

I would always put chocolate in the fridge…is that weird?!

Assuming you live somewhere hot if your storing in the fridge. Chocolate won’t go off that quickly but may melt.

We don’t hide the dcs eggs, currently have 6 (2 each) sat waiting on the console table, 1 they choose themselves and one I choose. I have a few other smaller eggs & Easter egg hunting bits in my wardrobe for the Easter bunny to deliver but big eggs come from us.

Ramunea · 23/03/2023 00:19

Why would it go bad?

some of the Easter eggs you see out this year is stock that has been in the back room for probably over a year.

I prefer chocolate from the fridge, whereas, my daughter likes it room temperature.
Thanks for the reminder to get an egg now cos you're right the good ones go early!

Womencanlift · 23/03/2023 00:32

I never put chocolate in the fridge as to me it loses its taste but if it’s likely to melt than I can see why you would

WandaWonder · 23/03/2023 01:49

They are not stored in the fridge in shops so I just keep ours in the cupboard

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 23/03/2023 02:45

I keep it in the pantry in Australia. I've done a similar thing, bought rabbits and eggs when they've been on special as they tend to put different ones on special randomly and you can save a decent amount (rarely run out here except in the last few days).

I make sure it's in an anonymous looking bag and pop it on a higher shelf. Out of sight, out of mind and all that! So far I've managed to avoid snarfing them.... lol.

MerryMarigold · 23/03/2023 03:00

You said you live abroad. I guess it depends how hot it is. If you live in Sri Lanka then I would definitely keep chocolate in the fridge. If it melts a bit and then goes hard again it goes a bit weird. That won't happen at UK temperatures in April!
