How old will you be when you pay off your mortgage?

Aoneslicesandwichisonlyahalfsandwich · 22/03/2023 19:23

64, unless I win the lotto.

BingoBonus · 22/03/2023 19:27

Ours was paid off 5 years ago.

ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 22/03/2023 19:28

Fuck knows, can't even get a mortgage 🤣🙃

QforCucumber · 22/03/2023 19:29

57 at the rate we are going now. Currently 36 and took it out over 30 years 3 years ago but been overpaying slightly, want it cleared by 55.

sittingonacornflake · 22/03/2023 19:31

I'm 34 and mortgage free....

Because I can't afford one!

sunnydayhereandnow · 22/03/2023 19:33

75, it's a new 30-year mortgage but (sadly but realistically) whatever I inherit from my remaining parent will help me pay it off before then; and if necessary I also have some non-pension retirement savings.

BingoBonus · 22/03/2023 19:27

Ours was paid off 5 years ago.

That doesn't help unless anyone knows how old you are now 🤣

I was 44 as very young when i took out a mortgage.

ExplodingCarrots · 22/03/2023 19:36

38 or 39 depending how things go . Been consistently overpaying past few years .

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 22/03/2023 19:37

If we continue as we are then maybe 55

Aprilx · 22/03/2023 19:38

I paid mine off when I was 43 and DH was 39, which was about ten years ago.

skippy67 · 22/03/2023 19:39

Ours was paid off 3 years ago. I'm 55.

LongRoadtoNowhere · 22/03/2023 19:41

If we don’t move then probably about 10 years. If we do move, probably more like 15-20.

We’re 36/38 and are only in this position through inheritance.

  1. We are in our 30's and have only just got on the property ladder for various reasons. We have 60% equity in the house but owe around £290k 🥴
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/03/2023 19:43

63

Chickenwing2 · 22/03/2023 19:47

67 Blush

cartagenagina · 22/03/2023 19:47

62/63. Would have been much earlier if I had divorced sooner but such is life.

Luckily I really enjoy my job.

Kranke · 22/03/2023 19:49

48, but we want to move in the next 5yrs and it will be a big mortgage, so probably about 65 when we pay that off.

ChopSuey2 · 22/03/2023 19:54

50, if not earlier. I regularly overpay and also pay off lump sums when money allows. There's a small possibility I'll upsize in future (from one bedroom to two) which would mean a bigger mortgage and longer until I was mortgage free.

name985 · 22/03/2023 19:56

GlmPmum · 22/03/2023 19:58

9 years time when we're 50, over pay by the maximum amount every year!

nokidshere · 22/03/2023 20:02

I was 58 & DH 66 but we were only able to do that because of inheritance sadly. Had MIL not died it would have been another 8 years.

We never once overpaid our mortgage, nor paid off lump sums, sometimes when we were younger and interest rates were massive we couldn't pay at all.

BingoBonus · 22/03/2023 20:09

Oops

I'm 55

aroomwithaperfectview · 22/03/2023 20:12

67 and hopefelly just about to retire. My partner will be 63 but he already owns a flat that is mortgage free and rented.
