Do you get stressed signing your signature?

Just that really, do you get stressed out signing your signature for important documents etc?

I always have and I don’t know why! In the back of my mind I feel like whoever it is will judge my signature or dispute who I am if my signature doesn’t match…

Am I being crazy and should relax or is this a normal thing? Light hearted please! Don’t suggest I need therapy etc… I am aware a lot of people will think I am weird!

No. My signature looks wildly different every time I use it. It's pointless so I don't worry about it!

Notateacheranymore · 22/03/2023 19:29

I’m left-handed and sign every letter of my name, unlike DH’s RH squiggle. He sometimes comments that it takes me ages to sign my name - 10 letters, fgs!! 🙄- but also that it always looks the same or at least identifiably similar.

Left handers have to push the pen across the paper - much harder to generate a squiggle when writing in all the languages that start on the left of a page.

Custardbanana · 22/03/2023 19:30

Can't even remember the last time I signed my name in pen on anything.

No reason you couldn't develop a right-to-left squiggle…?

A close friend used to have same issue, it is definitely a thing.

ChopSuey2 · 22/03/2023 20:16

Yes, it mildly stresses me and overthinking it makes me lose the flow so it doesn't look like my signature and I sometimes have to write a new cheque or print the signature page again.

riotlady · 22/03/2023 20:16

Nope, mines a very easy squiggle based on my maiden name (didn’t see the point in changing it when I got married)

Same as me, I never changed my signature when I changed my name. It’s a vague squiggle of my maiden name.

and no, I don’t worry about it at all. It usually looks about right.

Yes, if there is a box to keep within

Reinventinganna · 22/03/2023 20:26

No, I do it every day, multiple times a day.
It sometimes looks the same but is always obviously my signature rather than someone else’s.

Augend23 · 22/03/2023 20:27

I used to find it stressful but I spent the first 3 years of my career having to sign my name every single day, sometimes multiple times. So I got to the point it was just automatic.

Emmamoo89 · 22/03/2023 20:27

Yep

Oysterbabe · 22/03/2023 20:28

YES! I feel such pressure and it always looks shit.

Oysterbabe · 22/03/2023 20:29

Remember when you had to sign the receipt at the supermarket? I once spelt my name wrong under the pressure.

Oblomov23 · 22/03/2023 20:37

Eh?
No.

schnubbins · 22/03/2023 20:47

No.I have very good handwriting .I am always complimented on my signature .especially by younger folk .Good handwriting is probably going to be a thing of the past.

WandaWonder · 22/03/2023 20:48

I get the 'this is a grown up thing and I don't want or feel grown up' type feeling but not seriously effected by it no

IamSmarticus · 22/03/2023 23:17

MarnieDg · 22/03/2023 16:45

No need for this. People have lots of strange and intrusive thoughts, this is pretty tame.

Oh get a grip - the OP herself said a lot of people will think I am weird - I was lightheartedly agreeing with her, hence the GRIN afterwards!

MrsAvocet · 22/03/2023 23:21

Not exactly stressed, but I write so infrequently now compared to typing that I feel a bit awkward using a pen! I wrote a cheque the other day, probably for the first time in at least 2 years and I was a bit anxious in case the recipient had it declined because I had done something stupid!

Upallnightfeeding · 23/03/2023 20:44

@Oysterbabe i feel that 😂

And thank you everyone, I feel like I’m somewhat not alone in this! I kinda wish maybe I had a role like a lot of comments on here that forced me to sign multiple times a day everyday then it wouldn’t be so daunting every time I need to sign for something super important

@MrsAvocet there is an element of writing things feeling foreign. I hardly write things down these days, thinking back to my school days it’s crazy to think I wrote whole essays on pen and paper, mind blowing now! 😂
