I had posted previously regarding hearings for my attendance which included time off I had had with my daughter. My hearing was held on Thursday. I had asked at the start of the week for that coming Fri and Mon as annual leave. I was on my boss's pc and (i know I shouldnt have!!! but saw an e-mail the HR woman had sent him forwarding my holiday request and saying that I must be taking the time off for interviews!! My boss then sent a reply the next day to tell her I had been gone from my desk for 20 mins and it must be to set up interviews!! AIBU and maybe a tad sensitive to feel totally victimised here now! The whole situation is really starting to depress me!

Why did you have a hearing for your attendance?
She really shouldn't be making comments like that, sounds like they are a bit unprofessional.

HappyMummyOfOne · 12/02/2008 15:37

Not sure about being victimised for them gossiping or guessing by email re your time off/away from desk as they dont appear to have actually said anything to you.

They were private emails and if caught, i'm sure it wouldnt have gone down well with the firm.

Personally, reading your bosses email was way out of line regardless of your disciplinary for time off.

dingdong05 · 12/02/2008 15:39

Could you ask for everything they have written about you through freedom of information or summat? Then you'd get the whole story of what they've been saying and evidence if it proves they have been victimising you.
But I guess it would only matter if it effected how they actually treated you.

YABU I'm afraid.

You have less than a year's service, if they wanted rid of you they could no problem.
You are out of line reading your boss's emails.
Speculating that you might be going to interviews is not especially professional of HR or your boss but why does it mean they want to get rid of you? They are aware you're not particularly happy at the moment because of the other situation, so it's probably a reasonable assumption, if a little unprofessional to speculate about it.

ShinyDysonHereICome · 12/02/2008 15:45

I think reading someone elses private and confidential emails could well warrant disciplinary action so I'd be careful not to do that again if I were you

mum2taylor · 12/02/2008 15:53

I have access to his e-mails and contacts etc so I think he should be more careful about deleting things that he doesnt want me to see to be honest! I was on his machine to sort something legit and came across some with my name on it so obviously I was curious (maybe I shouldnt have looked but I do think they are being out of order here!)

Do you read and post on MN from work?

Might be an idea to be careful.....

flowerybeanbag · 12/02/2008 16:02

What are they doing that's out of order? Little bit unprofessional speculating on an email whether someone who you know is unhappy is going to interviews, but I wouldn't call that out of order tbh.
