Morning . Posting here for traffic. I know I’ll get a quick answer.
I’ve not seen any indication on our gas bill or bank account that we received the government support for energy bills between October and March 2023. The one everyone was eligible for .

we moved house in September , had an awful time with British Gas getting ( new build and our metre was registered to another house , long story , won’t bore you ) .

We have now paid our bill and moved supplier .
i have seen no deductions on our bill or money paid to our bank account . I have googled it but it says the payment is automatic , I just don’t know where to expect to see the credit being made.

We have had credits applied to our bills.

Changingplace · 22/03/2023 07:36

We’ve had an automatic refund of sone of our bill every month into our bank account, I think if you pay by monthly direct debit that’s how you should get the money.

FatOaf · 22/03/2023 07:38

The payments go directly to your energy supplier. For mine (Octopus), these show as £67 credits each month.

PeekAtYou · 22/03/2023 07:38

Which company ?

British Gas sent me £67 (or whatever the amount was) every month.

No, it depended on your supplier, not how you pay your bill. I pay monthly by direct debit and mine was credited to my energy account, friend pays same way but different supplier and his was a refund into bank account, other half had his monthly amount decreased (so only paid £3 a month for past 6 months!).

Bigpinktrain · 22/03/2023 07:44

I’m with EDF and the credit is just applied to my account and I can see it on the bill

FarmGirl78 · 22/03/2023 07:47

I transfered from BG to UtilityWarehouse just before the credits started, and there was an issue with my electric meter transfering which was only sorted in December. The thing that qualified you for the £400 rebate was being registered with an electricity supplier on (I think!) 1st October. There was a bit of hoo haa with who should cough up, but as National Grid confirmed I was officially with UW on the important date it was them who paid me a backdated lump sum, and then the remaining £67's.

Thanks .
We were paying by DD to British Gas but it was going to another metre. Eventually they refunded our DD payments by cheque ( less 130 odd pounds which we cannot work out why ) . Then we finally got our correct bill , all 6 months worth in one go . No indication of any gov funding . We did call and ask, got a very concluded answer that it had been applied to our bill . It sounded like waffle . I think the person on the phone confused our DD refund with the govt credit .

Very convoluted answers not concluded. 🤦‍♀️

Contact them and ask. It varies how you receive it but I manage multiple electric accounts and there was emails and mentions of it on statements. Octopus took it off the bill. Edf refunded 7 days after.

Suetcrust · 22/03/2023 07:54

I’m with EOn by direct debit. The grant shows on my internet bill every month.

My mum is with EDF via Direct Debit. She gets the grant into her bank account every month.

Seems like you’ve fallen between suppliers/houses or something so speak to your supplier(s).

What a pain for you. I hope it gets sorted out.

ThatsExyKim · 22/03/2023 07:57

If your payments were being credited to another meter could the government payments also have been credited there?

NotFuckingLadyLike · 22/03/2023 07:59

My parents pay via DD to British Gas and and they get £67 returned to their bank account each month.

MoreSleepPleasee · 22/03/2023 08:04

Mine went straight on to my smart meter as a credit and shows in my payments.

MoreSleepPleasee · 22/03/2023 08:06

You could try calling an energy organisation called Better Housing Better Health. They give energy advice over the phone.

Calmdown14 · 22/03/2023 08:17

It should show on your electric bill either way (assume you are duel fuel with British gas?). It was done through electric suppliers because large parts of the country don't have gas.

Mine is repaid into my bank account but shows on the bill as an additional then deduction again.

Are you looking at the full bill, not just the preview on an app? Mine doesn't show on the quick reference version without the readings.

BarbaraofSeville · 22/03/2023 08:28

Yes, it should show as a credit on your electricity bill.

Although some suppliers were sending the money to whatever bank account the DD came from instead.

My guess is that if you moved into a new build, it could be that you weren't 'on the list' on the day it was produced so possibly lost out. However, you should of course get the money so it's a matter of working out how.

I'd do a formal complaint then try OFGEM or MSE resolver if it doesn't work, but also, is there anything here:

EON reduced my direct debit by £67 each month.

Thanks for all the info and advice . I certainly feel that way may have slipped between the cracks so to speak as someone said up thread . We have called British Gas over this and other matters but talking to them has been a trial . A whole new thread .
