If you’re autistic and work, what job do you do?

Inspired by the ADHD thread! I read through it but most jobs sound like an absolute nightmare to me 😂 so I’ve been wondering, for those of you who are autistic but without ADHD, what work suits you?

Like the OP on the ADHD thread I’m also really struggling. It’s as if as I get older the ASD changes the rules on me and what was once alright now burns me out completely. Currently way over-qualified for the job I do and still struggling so wondering if I need a complete change. Hoping to get a little inspiration from all you lovely people.

Thanks for your responses everyone! I’ve been wondering about some sort of more physical work rather than what I do now which involves a lot of social contact. One of the huge problems is that even when I’ve worked out what would work well for me, it doesn’t bloody exist!

yes I think physical work would be better for me but I wanted to give my children a certain quality of life. I might switch once I am older if I am still physically capable.

i’m a copywriter, work from home with a company that’s very understanding of neurodivergence. Have always struggled at work previously so it’s bliss!

Library assistant. I work part time and pay isn't great (although not bad for level of responsibility) but I love books and I have plenty of time to process information and figure what I need to do. (I'm not good at thinking on my feet)

I'm a COO in a tech company. I work from home and ALL my colleagues are on the spectrum so it's relatively easy.

I am a primary school teacher, although I can only work part time and even now tat my kids are also school age. Otherwise I burn out quickly.

Project/portfolio manager on infrastructure schemes for an Active Travel charity.

Disability friendly space with tons of flexibility and autonomy. Decent pay and understanding management.

Used to be a teacher but cracked under hideous management practices.
