Curious on other's opinions on this. Do you think it's possible to support someone in their job while also resenting the impact it has on family life, stress levels, etc?

Him being an unending emotional support to others does not sound like it is carrying across to you. Who is your emotional support when you speak out about normal resentments you are feeling. It really does sound like gaslighting of your experiences.

Completely agree.

I think you need to perhaps withdraw your practical support of him, that he is so quick to dismiss🙄.

He sounds like really hard work.

Good post from @Sustainablesources765 but I would also think that lots of emotional support is worth diddly squat if you are put on the spot regularly for week long absences where childcare and working have to be juggled alone.

It really does read as if he is very self absorbed.

No, he’s not normally self absorbed or hard work at all. For example he’s always the first to apologise in an argument, always tries to minimise disruption to us as much as possible. I do think he’s being difficult about this but it’s not typical. But it’s reassuring to hear from others that this is quite a normal way to feel.
