Arghh I’m fed up of this!

excuse the fact I’m stupid and this might be really obvious (apologies), but why would someone with a healthy immune system keep getting infections and not be able to fight them off??

Ive posted before on here for advice as I have psoriasis and eczema both of which constantly get infected. Usually the infections clear either themselves or with a course of antibiotics but I’ve got an infected area of skin right now which hasn’t cleared after several different treatments. We’ve tried different antibiotics and fungal treatments and absolutely nothing is budging it. My own immune system isn’t clearing it either despite the fact I had a blood test recently and my immune system and everything else was fine. So why on earth can’t I or the treatments get rid of this infection from my skin? I’ve had the same infection for nearly 4 months now and it’s awful! I’ve posted photos on here before but it’s hot, sticky, red, oozing and crusty. Its a mess and I don’t know why it won’t just fuck off when I’m perfectly healthy.

I am a healthy weight, eat healthily, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep and I’m not stressed.

is there a secret I’m missing about how to stop this infection??

Can you use topical antibacterials like chlorhexidine, or do they exacerbate your problems? I suffer periodically from skin infections and find that, if I treat it at the very first sign of infection, I can stop it happening. I avoid antibiotics (especially systemic) wherever possible.

Maybe it’s an antibiotic resistant infection like MHRA? Have you had swabs taken to test for the kind of infection you have?

This

Randomly hitting it with stuff clearly isn't working.

It needs swabbing and culturing to see what it is.

Have you had your hormones checked ? A few years ago I started HRT and was getting every illness going, only me, no one in our family ended up poorly. For 18 months I was getting continually sick . I changed my HRT and normality resumed . My teenager DS is going through puberty atm and seems to be catching every bug about ....and the rest of us aren't getting sick, so I suspect his hormones are causing a deficient immune system. Just an idea .

Yeah I tried topical things first but unfortunately they literally made no difference. It’s so frustrating and I don’t understand why, even if the antibiotics are wrong, why I can’t just get rid of it myself. 4 months of some weird bug growing on my skin 😞

Ask for it to be swabbed, this happened
to my youngest with impetigo and it turned out it was resistant to the antibiotics prescribed.

Another vote for getting it swabbed. My friend's son had an infection just behind his ear for months - they tried everything to treat it. Turned out that his sister was a "silent" strep carrier, and kept reinfecting him. He needed a course of strong, specific antibiotics, and they also treated his sister. It hasn't come back so far (been a couple of years now).

  1. Ask for swab cultures.

Would you post pictures here ? My daughter bless her had it over 80% of her body once and lost half her hair.
What creams have you got ?

In the meantime If its what I'm thinking you possibly need to stop soaking it in like actual shower / bath water until it heals a bit underneath and instead later on savlon and bandage it with a loose non stick bandage. You can also get detol soap bar.

It's an immune condition which unfortunately means it goes on a cycle if there is infections or even flare ups and the 'wounds' gradually get deeper as the scales get thicker then they get very moist and oozy.

Also any change in hormones ?
