To want to watch a nature program without all the doom and gloom

I suspect I am. I just want to watch a nature program which doesn't, at some point, inform us that we're all dooooomed, and the natural world is falling to bits. I KNOW there is climate change, it's probably too late to make the necessary changes, that habitats are fucked, but sometimes I just want to watch beautiful animals without thinking about it. AIBU?

What is disturbing about this thread is that people are identifying the problem as being told about climate change rather than actual climate change

I wish they would do a documentary in a slaughter house. (I worked on a few) It might stop people telling me that it's humane.

A 12hr shift putting chickens upside down into shackles before they headed off to be dipped in to electrified boiling hot water convinced me.

YANBU - David Attenborough is the worse but they are all bad to some degree.

It's too late to change anything now anyway and lets be honest, without governments and big corporations doing their bit, us recycling our milk cartons aint gonna make a damn bit of difference.

I agree it's disturbing and you are right - the problem IS being told about climate change. We all know climate change is coming - they don't have to keep rubbing our fucking noses in it whilst goverments and corporations do nothing. Why do you think birth rates are plummeting in the west? Women aren't stuipid and they don't want to bring children into this world.

Hopefully humans will become extinct before the rest of the mammals.

I agree. I'm an animal lover and a non-meat eater who's very aware of environmental issues - but I absolutely hate preaching of any sort.

Similar issue with history and archaeology programmes now - all documentaries feel they have to preach about imperialism or immigration, even when talking about prehistoric societies or subjects with no real connection to these 'hot' topics.
