This afternoon my daughter opened a jar of M&S black olives and ate some with her lunch. I was going to use the remainder for pizzas tonight and when I was emptying out the jar I noticed a white worm that looks like a maggot in the jar!! I will contact M&S about it tomorrow but in the meantime I just wanted to let anyone who buys these know to watch out. I’m hoping my daughter doesn’t get sick from the food AIBU? I’m pretty disgusted tbh.

My gran once ate a caterpillar. She saw it on her salad, put it on the side of her plate and when she finished no sign if the caterpillar anywhere. She died when she was 78 from something unrelated. At least your maggot (?) Is pickled.
Personally, I can't get over anyone liking little ovals of oil to eat.

This is not just a pickled maggot.
It's an M&S pickled maggot.

😂

At least it was a M&S maggot not an Aldi one.

😂😂😂😂😂

It's a bit gross for a consumer but a reminder that food comes from nature and cant be helped.

Given how many blackberries and raspberries I pick and toss in the wild due to worms i think it's a testament to how rigorous food manufacturing and treatments are that this is a rare occurrence when buying off the shelf.

Free protein. Insects are the protein source of the future don’t you know.

Seriously, Whilst a bit ick, Its well pickled and won’t make anyone ill.

While it's a bit gross I can't see it would make anyone sick. It was prob tucked up chilling in the olive when it was pickled. My kids would probably have dared each other to eat it and they were gross so one of them probably would have.

🤣🤣🤣

You need to give us an update OP. I’m getting worried.
