AIBU - I’d love a naff mug for Mother’s Day

Just that really. My DH is wonderful in many ways but he’s just not thoughtful.

For example Mother’s Day and birthdays etc. He’d never think “FU would love that gift” he just thinks it’s all pointless and encourages me to order my own.

I tend to just quietly buy stuff for myself. Even valentines I treated myself to a box of chocolates.

Mothers day I got both our Mum’s some nice chocolates, he asked if I’d ordered myself some. I said no, DS4 would love to pick me a naff mug or keyring and I’d love to receive it.

Hes had this week off so he could have arranged this so easily.

For his birthday me and my eldest will make him a cake, do breakfast in bed. He just doesn’t think like that.

AIBU to just want a mug? I’ve even spelt it out to him!

Be careful what you wish for. My son is a smart ass & last year got me a mug saying. World's okayest mum!. Cheeky bugger!😆

It's still Saturday, Mother's Day isn't till tomorrow so how do you know already that your DH hasn't arranged the mug you want?

Because I asked if he’d arranged anything for me and he said no and why am I bothered. I know my DH well enough to know he wasn’t bluffing.

Honestly it's time to get angry. He's being a selfish lazy prick and it's disrespectful at this point.

Tell him you're furious, and until he ups his efforts you won't be doing anything for his birthday and you certainly won't be shopping for his mother- that's his job.

It's must feel humiliating making a cake and breakfast in bed for someone who couldn't be fucked getting you a mug or ordering flower's despite having a week off work, and being told in plain language that that is something you would really appreciate.

Tip his breakfast over his sodding head and tell him you expect better .

Hes not all bad. It’s just really hard to get across that just because he doesn’t value those gestures actually they’re important to me!
